4 Steps To Achieve Your Goals In 2017

You may have said goodbye to 2016, but are you ready to say goodbye to that lack of motivation that slowed you down last year? Are you ready to commit to being better than you were in 2016? These steps will help you take better control of yourself and will help motivate you to be greater in 2017.

4 Important Steps To Achieve Your Goals In 2017

1. Make Three Concrete Goals

Have you wondered why we make resolutions on New Years’ Eve? It’s a fresh start. You can redefine your purpose for the year. However, it doesn’t have to be for the year only. What most people don’t realize is that the goals they set for themselves can be lost somewhere in the midst with a lack of motivation. Write down what goals are most important to you.

Make a list of 10 goals that are most important to you, from most important to least important. Pick three of the most important ones on that list. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll take losing weight as an example.

2. Chalk out a workable action plan

When you have decided what goals you are going to fulfill, you will need to do proper research on how to achieve it. If one of those goals is losing weight, then you need to know how to get there. Look up different tested fitness plans about losing weight and tailor them according to what you think you can handle. This will be your starting point on reaching your goal.

3. Have a plan and keep track

When you have finally chalked out the plans that you need to reach your goals, stick to them religiously. If you have made a plan to lose weight in 2017, make sure you remain on track by maintaining a diary of your progress for each of your goals.

For instance, your weight loss diary can allow you to monitor your progress in terms of weight, waist size, and exercises that you are doing. You can research more at your own pace on different diets, or types of exercises and incorporate that research in your plans to make them more effective.

4. Don’t lose sight of the bigger goal

"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals."

- Zig Ziglar

Many people lose track of what they want to accomplish in 2017.  As a result, they are not able to achieve what they want for themselves. Think of the end result that your continuous and persistent effort will achieve, but don’t stress about it too much.

Being able to accomplish what you have worked for will be able to provide you enough motivation to continue further.

In the case of weight loss, don’t be tempted when your friends are out going for greasy burgers or pizzas and other fast food items. Go with them if you want, but buy a healthier option instead (a salad, for example).

Remember why you started the weight loss regime in the first place and keep reminding yourself of the benefits of reaching your goal. Besides, the people who make fun of you for having the discipline to stick to your healthy diet are usually the ones to offer you the most compliments when you lose that extra weight.

Remember, consistency is the key to an effective plan. Just like Zig Ziglar said: "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals."

Happy Goal Setting!
