Star Wars Icon Stands Up For Bullied Boy Who Chose Not to Fight Back, as It's 'Not the Jedi Way'

Mark Hamill is known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film series, of course, but it’s time to also give him props for what an incredible person he is.

Recently, a Star Wars fan named Aiden Vazquez, 10, of Desert Hot Springs, California, was bullied. His backpack was stolen, he was punched right in the face, and he was hurt so badly he needed stitches.

The little boy’s mom asked him why he didn’t fight back and defend himself and the boy answered “I got it from Star Wars, it's not the Jedi way."

Lizette Casanova, Aiden's mom, said on a Facebook post: "For those telling me I should tell my son to FIGHT BACK OR Hurt the kid we're not those kinds of people... I don't need to fight with fists to prove a point. My son is incredibly gifted and that's all I have to teach him to embrace he will be someone one day trust and believe! #StopBullying."

Hamill, known to Star Wars fans as Luke Skywalker himself, saw what was happening and went on Twitter and stood up for this boy who could not stand up for himself.

"SHOUT OUT to Aiden Vazquez for his courage & wisdom in the face of adversity," Hamill posted in a tweet. "I'm so proud of you for showing that you can be a Jedi in real life. Congratulations, Aiden -- The Force will be with YOU... Always!!! Your fan, mh."

Hamill's actions are inspiring in that he took the time to make a difference for a fan who was going through a rough time, but he also reminded him and everyone else that standing up for yourself is important and never the wrong answer.

Don't let yourself be bullied, but also don't let anyone you see around you be bullied, either. This is extra important if it appears they are not going to stand up for themselves and need the support where they can get it.

Be that support, and help them feel stronger so they will be that support for themselves. It may make a difference in how they live the rest of their lives.
