It’s been 10 years since he’s appeared in the popular law of attraction film, The Secret. Now, in his fourth book, John Assaraf, CEO of Neurogym, helps people rewire their brains for success using neuroscience.
In Innercise: The New Science To Unlock Your Brain’s Hidden Power, John provides the tools necessary to strengthen your mindset and improve your mental and emotional skills, so that you can get more out of life.
“We have genius abilities but no one’s really taught us how to access what the brain’s natural capabilities are,” he says.
By harnessing the power of neuroplasticity, and neurogenesis, John shows us how we can literally reshape our brains and transform our lives. To do so, he proposes a series of ‘innercises’.
“Just like exercise works on your physical muscle, Innercise works on your brains neuro-muscles,” says John.
“Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to create new connections and the ability to formulate new beliefs and habits that are empowering and constructive,” he explains.
This means, in other words, accessing the subconscious mind, where all of our existing beliefs, habits and perceptions live, in order to create positive, lasting change.
Some common excuses we give ourselves is that we don’t have enough time or money to do XYZ, and while they are valid excuses, Assaraf argues they keep us stuck.
“When people say, I don’t have the money, I always ask them is it really the money that’s the problem or is it your resourcefulness,” he says.
The book also puts a lot of emphasis on increasing self-confidence by removing self-doubt and developing new patterns whether it’s through positive affirmations, visualizations, subliminal programming or mental contrasting.
“We see ourselves based on what our parents told us, what we experienced in school, what our brothers, sisters, friends, teachers told us — we start to develop this self-image,” explains Assaraf. “What if you could go back to the software and change it?”
In addition to the ones in the book, John is giving away 9 audio brain-training innercises on his website with every book, so that people can access them on-the-go.
“It’s available right off of your phone to help you,” he says.
“It’s accessible, it works faster than anything else that’s been created in the world, so it’s very exciting.”
John is extremely grateful that he’s able to share his knowledge with the world. As a teenager, he lived a rather turbulent lifestyle, but was able to turn his life around with the help of a mentor.
“He took me under his wing. He loved me unconditionally, taught me and never asked for anything in return,” John remembers.
“The only thing he asked me was, to one day, if was to apply what he taught me and become successful, I would teach some of what he taught me to others. I’d give some of my time, knowledge and skills to others.” he continued.
“This is my way of honoring that and paying it forward.”
