This 58-year-old isn’t merely a best-selling author, but an entrepreneur, life coach, worldwide-renowned speaker and philanthropist. Some of his most popular works of art include Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within, both of which some of the leading executives on the planet have credited to aiding in their success.
Between his various enterprises, it’s estimated Robbins reaps $6 billion in sales annually, propelling his net worth to a staggering $480 million. While he’s battled his own fair share of hiccups — between divorces and legal issues — he’s built a wildly lucrative and esteemed career and lifestyle. He practices self-care so that he can properly care for others.

When your brand is built on encouraging others to take care of themselves holistically, it would make sense that he takes some of his own advice, too. According to an interview with Inc magazine, Robbins makes self-care non-negotiable so he’s always prepared to present effectively and more importantly, happily. In the morning, he takes a dip in a 57-degree plunge pool and jumps on a mini trampoline.
And before he goes on stage? He has a special technique for prepping: “I do a little shift in my body to get myself in a strong physical state, and then I say, ‘I now command my subconscious mind to direct me in helping as many people as possible today.’”
While you might not want to follow this exact schedule, Robbins is also a fan of cryotherapy, meditation and massage. Really though, it doesn’t matter exactly what mind/body connection you choose to jumpstart your day, the point is you take the time to do it. It’s a no-excuses way to start your day with a little love pointed inward. If you don’t think you can spare the valuable seconds in the A.M.? Listen to Robbins when he says, “If you don’t have 10 minutes, you don’t have a life.”
He guides his day by these three decisions.
Most adults make thousands of choices a day — some of which we actively consider, others we complete without thinking. For some, the vast amount of options can feel overwhelming and at times, debilitating. That’s why guiding your day with three essential questions is recommended by Robbins to remain focused and prepared for whatever comes your way. According to several interviews, Robbins asks himself these three inquiries daily: “What are you going to focus on?”, then, “What does this mean?’ Is this person dissing me? Are they harassing me? Are they challenging me? Are they teasing me?” And then, “What am I going to do?”
The point here it to omit distractions, whether they’re in the form of people or experiences that rob your joy. When you’re able to respectfully turn your cheek, you’re able to exude your energy toward fulfilling activities and experiences, rather than being brought down by negativity.
He surrounds himself with the best people – for work and play.

While Robbins is definitely quotable — your mother likely said it best when she reminded you ‘you are the company you keep.’ Many successful entrepreneurs mind this wisdom, ensuring whoever is in their personal and professional corner have earned their way by being dependable, kind and well, smart. In an interview, Robbins echoed this belief, explaining, “I love being surrounded by people who are geniuses in their own right, who are wickedly smart. Learning from them, growing, adding my two cents to it, and helping those businesses to grow.”
Trust can go a long way in establishing long-term friendships, relationships and business partnerships, making it that much more important to be mindful of who you invite into your life. As Robbins notes, you can to to be able to bounce ideas and express your opinions candidly.
He makes giving part of his life.
There’s no denying the power of giving back: whether financially, through volunteering or by mentoring younger generations. Not only does Robbins donate 100 million meals each year, but he is committed to challenging others to do their part in whatever medium they can.
As he told Bloomberg, he wants to be the person who does more for other’s lives. It was his humble upbringing that gave him this motivation, which he calls ‘the millionaire mindset.’ He was raised by a single mom and has worked from the earliest age his could, instilling the belief that diligence makes a difference. Once he was given a break, he knew he’d have to repay it to others. Many entrepreneurs swear by mentoring, not only as a way to keep their minds fresh but to fulfill the lives of aspiring budding professionals, too.
He “conditions” his thoughts.
You’re not only what you eat, but what you think, if you ask Robbins. In fact, many psychologists believe in the power of positive thinking as a way to find and maintain success. Robbins says he conditions his thoughts, helping him to gain control and also ward away any pity-parties that dare to crash his parade. “You know, ‘I now command my subconscious mind to direct me in helping as many people as possible, by giving me the strength, the humor, the brevity, whatever it takes to show these people, to get these people to change their life now’ — and do it over and over again,” he shared.
In fact, he stands firm to the notion that successful people didn’t get that way by pointing a special gift, but rather, in their ability to take action and to think smartly. When in doubt, change your mind, and perhaps, change your life.
