Each week, I’ll highlight the daily routine of influential professionals, making for the right kind of fodder while you down your coffee.

As one of the most beloved members of the royal family, Kate Middleton — also known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge — is renowned around the world.

Her fairytale-like romance with Prince William captivated hearts near-and-far when nations gathered to celebrate their marriage. Eight years later, the two lovebirds have welcomed three heirs to the throne, and Duchess Kate has become a frequent guest to many British functions and events worldwide.

Considering she is expected to one day become the Queen Consort, her every move is critiqued and followed, making her daily routine something of an example. From how she approaches the media and her image of herself to the message she aspires to send to populations, here’s what we can all take from the habits of this royal leader:

She admits to struggling.

Even if you have an army of support, like Middleton, becoming a parent is still a taxing experience. There may be no other love like the one you have for your children, but caring for a newborn is no easy task.

At an event at the Family Action Headquarters, Middleton shared her personal struggles: “Even for me, who has support at home that most mothers do not. Nothing can really prepare you for the sheer, overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother. For many mothers, myself included, this can at times lead to a lack of confidence and feelings of ignorance.”

As an influential woman, Middleton’s open acknowledgement of the stress mothers experience helps humanize the experience. It should also be a boost of relief for those working moms who put themselves down for struggling.

She’s dedicated to causes.

Not everyone has the kind of substantial wealth that allows you to contribute to each cause that tugs at your heart strings, but investing in your community will enrich both your personal and professional life.

From the start of her tenure as Duchess of Cambridge, Middleton has been dedicated to improving the lives of kids through various measures.

During a 2012 speech she gave in Malaysia, she explained: “I have learned that delivering the best possible palliative care to children is vital, providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life-changing.”

Whether you volunteer your time, your hard-earned income, or a little of both, the more you give, the bigger your impact will be on those near and far.

She finds a way to laugh at the big (and small) things.

Whether your partnership is romantic or work-based, the ability to get through the tough times is part of the glue that keeps you connected. There’s no denying not only the chemistry, but the friendship Middleton and Prince William share. For Will, it was his wife’s ability to get through the good and bad that cemented their bond.

As he describe in their televised engagement interview, “She’s got a really naughty sense of humor which really helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humor so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh, and then things happened.”

This spirit of optimism is central to nearly all successful — and fulfilled — professionals, especially since the road to the top is often ripe with detours, bumps, and unexpected delays.

She owns her faults.

Even the future qeen consort of England is no perfect peach. And Middleton is confident and humble enough to admit just that.

In a speech she gave in 2017, she explained how much having a baby rocked her world with “complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love and worry, all mixed together.” When she gave birth, she suddenly went from being an individual to a mother who must prioritize her children. As it is for many new parents, it was a dramatic transformation for her.

Middleton went on to share how acknowledging her faults, shortcomings, and mistakes helped her move forward and learn as a mom. Even if you aren’t changing nappies and getting up for 2 a.m. feedings, the ability to be thoughtfully self-aware will encourage forward-thinking growth and progress in your career and daily life.

She leans on others to help get the job done.

It takes an army — not only to run a nation but to raise a family. The same is true for building a new business, and getting through the most stressful moments of life.

Middleton once shared how deeply she believes in teamwork. “No one of us, however, can make a difference alone. I feel so passionately about working together,” she shared.

The ability to designate duties for different people and their strengths, and to work cohesively will take professionals to the next level. And in your home life, it’ll be make everyone’s level of happiness that much higher.
