Man Writes Touching Note To Hospital Staff Who Saved His Wife’s Life

A man in Morristown, N.J., has gone viral after he was

spotted holding a sign thanking medical staff for “saving [his] wife’s life.”

When families have a loved one suffering from coronavirus, often they are not allowed to visit them due to isolation needs. That means many sick people and their loved ones are separated at the very time where they need each other the most.

However, in the emergency department at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey, a man found a creative way to thank the team who saved his wife.

“Thank you all in [the] emergency for saving my wife’s life. I love you all,” reads the sign. The man also appears to be holding his hand over his heart.

New Jersey has been hit hard

The man's identity is still unclear and the nurses did not know which of the patients was his wife. Therefore, it has not been confirmed yet whether the woman had novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. However, the likeliness of it being a coronavirus case is high, since the virus has infected more than 4,000 people in The Garden State alone.

We don't know who the man is, we don't know who his wife is. The nurses happened to be there and took his picture.

Nonetheless, the picture itself told a familiar story for many, as the needs to enforce isolation have become drastic. Not only does it separate the affected people from their loved ones, but it also prevents them from expressing gratitude to the healthcare workers who have been fighting relentlessly.

What it meant to the nurses

The man's gesture was incredibly touching to the staff. As the pandemic has put most people in self-isolation, their life has only taken a faster, more chaotic pace.

This picture brought us all to tears. It's amazing to see not only the ER staff but all the floors coming together during this challenging time. We couldn't do this without nurses, techs, residents, doctors, secretaries, registrars [and] housekeeping.

Touching messages delivered in innovative ways have been common lately. When a patient recently recovered from coronavirus went viral after leaving a touching message on the wall of his isolation room for the medical staff who helped take care of him while he was in the ICU.

During his stay at the Cleveland Clinic, the staff used the glass wall to communicate with the unidentified man to avoid the risk of COVID-19 contamination.

“This window has been the most impactful window in my life,” he wrote, in part. “On days when I watched you work hard to keep me and others alive, unable to thank you for the time that you poured into me – and although I will probably never get the chance to pour that same love and support into you, I want you to know that I think you are all rock stars.”

The importance of gratitude

Gratitude is the one thing we have the ability to give at all times. Despite the restrictions set by the current pandemic, we can find a way to support our healthcare heroes, first by respecting the rules of social distancing.

Other ways include donating supplies, making financial donations, or showing your support by using #fightingcoronavirustogether hashtag on social media. Remember, they need us the most so let's show up for them in the best way we can.

This scene looks happy, even festive. The lights are bright, and a little girl's toys are strewn across the floor.

But something's off.
