For months now, all of social media has been glued to the plight of actor Nick Cordero. At the top of his career, he contracted COVID-19, and then spent an unbelievable 95 days in ICU in a Los Angeles hospital fighting to survive. This past weekend, he lost his long battle against the deadly virus.

Just hours after his tragic loss on Sunday, his wife Amanda Kloots, a professional dancer, was the one to break the news to the world by sharing it on her Instagram.

“God has another angel in heaven now,” she posted. “My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”

She continued, “I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, every day.”

Amidst the pain, Amanda still wants to highlight silver linings

The next day, as his friends and fans all gathered on social media to reflect and remember, Amanda joined them. She reflected on the incredible support she’s received over the past 95 days and how it helped her to get through the toughest time of her life.

“How do you get through the hardest time in your life? Family,” she wrote on Monday in another Instagram post.

“I woke up to this video my sister made for me. She titled it, The Silver Linings,” Amanda explained. “I have always been lucky to have a family that loves to be together and to support each other. I’m even luckier to have Nicks family and extended family that are the same.”

Amanda shared the video her sister made, which she said “captures these last 95 days. The love, the exhaustion, the bonds, the smiles, the song, the exercise, the hard work, the care, support and most of all love. They did all of this for Nick, Elvis and I- selfless time from their lives to be with us.”

The footage personal photos and videos of her and her son and extended family since Cordero was hospitalized in late March.

Amanda never stopped fighting until the very end

Throughout Nick’s hospitalization, Amanda has been a constant force of positivity, never once losing hope or faith in her husband’s recovery. Amanda wanted to share it with the world, but also impart us with the wisdom she had acquired.

She continuously shared that energy with his fans as well, posting regular updates on social media and singing and dancing to his song, “Live Your Life.” She did that once more, for one final day on Monday afternoon during an Instagram Live.

In times of trauma, look for the silver linings. Spend time with family. Smile through the tears. Have faith when things seem impossible. Love one another.

Even after this terrible outcome, Amanda’s strength shines through. In the midst of her grief, she still took the time to acknowledge and thank everyone who was supporting them through his battle.

“You guys made Nick a rockstar in his last three months of life and that is not a small feat to do,” Amanda shared. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. Nick left this earth with people around him that he loved, listening to music, I don’t think he would have wanted anything else. So I think we gave him a good send off. I’ll miss him every day of my life, that’s for sure. But thank you so much, and I’ll see you soon.”

That Amanda, in the midst of such an unimaginable loss, found strength to be positive, is something we can all learn from. What an inspiration, and what a terrible loss of a man who was clearly so incredibly loved.

Let this be a reminder of the importance of caring for one another, especially as we go through this pandemic. We can only come out of the other side victorious if we all, collectively help each other by applying the appropriate safety measures to minimize the risk of exposition and transmission.
