Family Raises Over $250,000 For Older Domino’s Driver Who Fell While Delivering Pizza
An elder lady can now retire after a nasty fall.
How far would you go to help a stranger in need?
Because one family went to big heights — over $250,000 to help someone simply delivering pizza.
The reality for many Americans is that they will have to work far past retirement age. Stagnant wages, the rising cost of medical care, inflation, and a lack of retirement savings mean that people can’t survive solely on social security and need to take jobs and work more hours to make ends meet.
It’s not uncommon for seniors to take on jobs as delivering drivers, working the floor at Wal-Mart, or bagging groceries.
Recently, an elderly woman took a nasty fall while delivering pizzas and the only thing she could afford to be worried about was keeping her job.
However, there was a surprise in store for her.
The Nasty Fall Was Caught on Camera
@momofthe5ks Our dominos delivery driver fell on our front porch today and my heart just hurts for her. She’s clearly having a hard time. She was so worried about our food but all we cared about was that she was okay. I’m so sad for her @dominos #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #dominospizza ♬ original sound – Lacey Keighron
Kevin Keighron is a homeowner with a penchant for pizza.
When he gave into his craving and ordered from Domino’s, he wasn’t expecting his Domino’s pizza delivery driver to be an elderly woman. Even more, he wasn’t expecting her to take a tumble as he approached the door.
Thanks to his security system, he saw her tumble live and rushed to the door to help. The delivery woman, Barbara Gillespie, was more concerned about the food she had dropped. Kevin assured her that she didn’t need to worry about it, they just wanted to make sure she was okay.
The Family Steps up to Give Her a Bigger-Than-Usual-Tip
Kevin and his wife, Lacey, couldn’t come up with the means to gift Barbara the tip they wanted to — so they turned to GoFundMe. They explained the situation and sought to raise $100,000.
Hi, my name is Lacey and my husband and I are trying to fundraise for our Dominos delivery driver Barbara. Today she took a rough fall on our front porch while delivering our food. We would like to bless her by bringing by a “tip” to help her with anything she may need. She is an older woman who fell and only cared about the food she dropped. Let’s show her some kindness and take off some of this burden that our economy is causing the older generations especially!! Thank you all ❤️

Lacey also made a TikTok about the incident, urging users to donate to help Barbara.
How a Viral TikTok Gave Barbara More Than she Bargained For
Lacey’s TikTok went viral, gained media attention, and raised over $250,000 for Barbara In a follow-up TikTok, Lacey documented her young daughters delivering flowers to Barbara, along with a surprise.
As of this writing, thanks to nearly 17,000 donations, Barbara’s GoFundMe has already received $268,465.
“I still have to keep pinching myself! Wondering if this is real or am I in a dream?”
– Barbara Gillespie
Before taking her job with Dominos, Barbara decided she needed to generate more money. After the fall on the Keighron’s porch, she knew she’d have to pay for medical treatment. “I was either going to have a knee operation or I was going to have to quit work,” she said. “I just prayed and prayed and prayed.”
Luckily, the universe had her back and she got enough money to retire. For Lacey, the situation is bittersweet.
Her own father passed away from terminal cancer just a few short years ago, and he had only retired because of his cancer. He spent his retirement undergoing chemotherapy and slowly deteriorating– a fact that broke Lacey’s heart.
She says she was happy to give Barabara the retirement she wished her father had been able to get.
