Homeless Man Returns Strangers Lost Check Instead of Keeping It - Their Conversation Was About to Change His Life

On the surface, it was a simple enough question. For Yesenia Ortiz-Del Valle, it was small talk to end a crazy day that started with a knock at her door. Oh, but when she heard the reply, it was clear that her wild story was just getting warmed up. A Strange Man Knocks at Her DoorPhoto by Emmanuel CoddenPer the San Diego Union-Tribune, just moments before that knock at her door, Valle had been in full-blown panic mode. She was looking for it all over, but it was gone, vanished, and it wasn't cheap. 'It' was a $676 cashier's check for her taxes owed. She must have lost it somewhere between her tax preparer's office and the post office. At that moment, she got a visit she wouldn't forget. His name was Sergio Juarez. After almost tossing what he thought was a paper, Juarez saw the check and it had Valle's address on it. And so, guided by good, he went to return it to its rightful owner. A grateful Valle offered Juarez $40 for his troubles. After refusing at first, he said that he would use the money to fill up his gas tank. That's when Valle asked him the casual question of where he lived. A Good Samaritan’s Sad StoryPhoto by Nicolas CoolA hesitant Juarez told Valle that his family had been homeless since he and his wife had lost their jobs three years ago. He was living out of a Motel 6 with her and their kids. With the motivation to help, Valle went right to work. She first set up a GoFundMe account titled 'We Rise by Lifting Others.' In it, she wrote a moving call to action."Theres still a lot of good people in the world and Sergio is a living example. Let's help him get on his feet again! Even the smallest act of caring has the potential to turn a life around."She then shared Juarez's story to the local radio airwaves to drum up support for the family. You might say that the response broke the bank. The campaign was beyond a success, raising almost $20,000 on a goal of $5,000. That should surely help Juarez and his family get out of the motel and back on their feet. How One Man Proves That No Good Deed Goes UnpaidWith a future he and his family can now look forward to, Juarez is humbled.“We are grateful. Words are not enough from us and thank you so much San Diego, for your heart, thank you so much for everything and your prayers," he said. He added that once he's back on his feet, he intends to pay the kindness forward."That day, he was my miracle. And then I ended up being his miracle," Valle said. This is such a great tale about perspective. In moments, Valle's lost check was nothing compared to the very real crisis Sergio Juarez and his family was in. You can bet he would swap places with her faster than a motel checkout. It all started with a man who was guided by values, despite his hard times. He did right for right's sake, and the world paid him back in spades. With faith as fuel and morals as motivation, great things can happen when you least expect it. George Clooney Receives a Letter at His Home - Immediately Stops Everything to Visit the Person Who Wrote It

Between movies, tequila, production deals, real estate and raising twins, Hollywood icon George Clooney is a busy man. But one piece of news shook up his calendar and checked someone's bucket list. The Letter That Made George Clooney Stop EverythingPhoto by PixabayWhen he's not making movies, Clooney is usually at his London residence spending time with his wife Amal and their twin children, Alexandra and Ella. As per Yahoo, he said it's a picture-perfect home. "There’s a great old pub and there’s a great restaurant, The French Horn, there, and it’s a really beautiful, fun place to be. I’m really excited," he said. One day while at home, he received a letter that was the motivation for the star to stop, put on his Sunday best and head out the door. While he wasn't traveling far, it was for a high-profile visit. The Ocean's star was headed to the nearby Sonning Sunrise Retirement and Assisted Living Facility. The reason was to visit none other than 87-year-old resident Pat Adams. How George Clooney Surprised an 87-Year-Old WomanPhoto by Eduardo Barrios“The lady in the picture, loves George Clooney and mentions every day how she would love him to meet him, especially as he lives so near to where I work,” a worker at the facility posted on their Facebook page.As her birthday neared, Adams wrote to Clooney saying how nice it would be to meet him, especially since they both lived in Sonning. Others from her residence sent letters too, saying how it would be her dream come true. To everyone's shock, Clooney paid the birthday girl a surprise visit, and he had gifts in hand. Along with flowers, he gave Adams a sweet card. "Pat! I thought you'd just like some flowers with love," it read. He also took a picture with the lucky lady.A dreamy Adams was through the moon."He was very nice and he shook my hand, put his arm around my shoulder. I thought 'Call again George!'" she recalled.Consider this a box office success. How George Clooney Proved That Moments Light Up LivesAdams wasn't the only one awestruck by Clooney's surprise visit as the staffers were also giddy with glee.“I answered the door, lucky I hadn’t diverted calls on the Dec phone, as someone else could have answered it!!!!” said one. You can bet that everyone at Sunrise is hoping for a sequel. While it seems small, Clooney's visit made a huge impact. According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), loneliness is linked to a higher risk of everything from high blood pressure to depression and even death. That puts seniors, who have either lost a spouse or are at an assisted living home, especially vulnerable. This moment is just one of Clooney's many acts of giving back. He somehow finds time to be active in over 30 charities, from fighting hunger to stopping genocide. It's always nice to see a celebrity pay their good fortunes forward for humankind. When counting our blessings, let's not take for granted how rich we are to have friends and family within reach. There are millions leading lonely lives and we can all help by reaching out by being a shoulder or smile for them.More from Goalcast:Waitress Sings for George Clooney – And Then Signs a Massive Record Deal You Wouldn’t BelieveGeorge Clooney Handed 14 Friends a Mystery Suitcase Each – What They Found Inside Shocked Them

The Founder of Little Caesars Pizza Has Paid Rosa Parks Rent for Decades - AND He Kept It a Secret

In 1955, Rosa Parks very publicly changed the lives of countless others. In 1994, one person secretly helped to change hers. When Parks was assaulted and robbed in her home at the age of 81, the founder of Little Caesars (and the owner of both the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings) stepped up. Upon hearing of the incident, Mike Ilitch reportedly offered to pay for safer housing for Parks as long as necessary. It was a secret he kept for years.Who Was Rosa Parks?Rosa Parks made history on a Montgomery, Alabama bus in 1955 when she refused an order to give up her seat to a white passenger and move to the back of the bus.She was arrested, convicted, and fined. Her incredible act of defiance became the catalyst for the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Led by none other than Martin Luther King Jr., it ignited the civil rights movement in America. Known as 'the Mother of the Modern Civil Rights Movement,' her bravery garnered her worldwide recognition. She won numerous awards including the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor. Parks moved to Detroit in 1957 where she continued to fight for civil rights.Rosa Parks Receives Help From an Unexpected SourceIn 1994, at the age of 81, Parks was assaulted and robbed in her home. The assailant, Joseph Skipper, walked away with $53.When word of the attack got out, Judge Damon Keith immediately called in the big guns — real estate developer A. Alfred Taubman and the Pizza Pizza! man himself. Taubman offered up an apartment in his Riverfront Apartments complex in downtown Detroit. Illitch offered up a promise — to pay for Parks' housing expenses indefinitely. The Rosa Parks Trust Fund was created, containing more than $100,000. While Illitch's contributions to the business world were widely recognized, his act of kindness was shrouded in secrecy. Hidden from public knowledge, and known only to a select few individuals, his generosity towards Rosa Parks remained a secret for many years.Silent Support: An Act of Kindness UnveiledIt wasn't until an article was published in the Sports Business Daily in 2014 that the secret came out.And it didn't garner popular attention until it resurfaced after Illitch's death in 2017.The article contained a photograph of Keith holding a copy of a cheque.“It’s for $2,000, dated November the first, 1994," Keith said. "It’s from Little Caesars Enterprises to Riverfront Apartments, and I know it was just one of many. It’s important that people know what Mr. Mike Ilitch did for Ms. Rosa Parks because it’s symbolic of what he has always done for the people of our city.” Eventually, after nearly a decade, Hartford Memorial Baptist Church took over Parks' rent payments. And in December 2004, the Riverfront Apartments offered to let her live rent-free until her death in October 2005.Legacy of GivingIt wasn't Illitch's only act of giving. Throughout his life, the billionaire pizza mogul made significant contributions to various charitable causes. In 1985, he established the Little Caesars Love Kitchen, a mobile pizza kitchen that provides food to those in need. It has served more than 2 million individuals in the United States and Canada.Additionally, he founded the Little Caesars Veterans Program, the Detroit Red Wings Foundation, the Detroit Tigers Foundation, and Ilitch Charities. All with the intent to improve the lives of children, veterans, and families in the Detroit area through various programs.Mike Illitch and Rosa Parks may have come from two completely different worlds and lived very different lives, but there is one common thread that ties them together — their unwavering commitment to creating positive change. It's a legacy that continues to inspire people today, proving that one person really does have the power to make a difference. Stranger Asks Struggling Crossing Guard for $1 - Then Brings Her to Her Knees With a Shocking Surprise

Right in the middle of her shift, a strange man approaches her with her boss trailing him. When she hears what he tells him, she's concerned. "Is this going to hurt my paycheck? Am I going to be docked?" she asked the Lieutenant. Soon enough, she and millions more were about to find out how wrong she was, for the right reasons.A Stranger Makes an OfferPhoto by Kenny EliasonAs a crossing guard in Detroit's busy downtown district, Linita Edge sees all types of people, but the one constant is her smile. "Be safe. Have a great evening. Oh, your hair is gorgeous," she says to a little girl who beams back at her.So she didn't miss a beat when a man approached her with an offer. He asked if she had $1 in exchange for a jersey. She said sure, however she was busy working. Then the stranger asked if she was a Detroit Tigers baseball fan, to which she said 'Of course!'The stranger then asked her an awkward question about what time she finished work. Yet, the pleasant Edge told him 10 or 11. However, the man pressed her, asking if there was a chance she can get off early. With a smirk, Edge replied 'Close to none.' But, she said jokingly, 'My Lieutenant is right there across the street,' suggesting he can talk to him. With that as motivation, the man turned around and walked straight to her boss. He returned moments later with a surprise offer. A Man’s Surprise Offer to a Crossing GuardPhoto by Joshua PeacockThat's when the strange man returned with her boss in tow. "We wanted to let you know that you got the thumbs up," he told her, as in she was able to leave work earlier. “Oh my god, are you serious?" replied a shocked Edge. "We’re going to the game!” the man replied, referring to a Tigers game, right by where the crossing guard was working. That's when Edge asked her boss if it would impact her pay. With that, the man gave her $500. After saying 'Are you serious?!' Edge welled up and shared the struggle behind her smile."You don't even know right now," she started. "I was just telling my son, 'Son, we're going to have to put it together,'" she said, alluding to her financial struggles. "And I tell them, we're just going to have to pray."Little did Edge know at the time, but this story was about to cross into giant glow-up territory.A TikTok Influencer Changes a Mother’s LifePhoto by Alexander ShatovSo that was not just a strange man looking for a quick date. It was none other than motivational TikToker Zachery Dereniowski (@madmotivator), who has 16.1 million followers for creating random acts of kindness. His video showcasing Edge's story and their night out went viral with 10 million views, 1.9 million likes and over 10,000 comments. With the motivation to do something more for Edge, in the caption under his post, Dereniowksi directed viewers to a GoFundMe page he set up for the radiant crosswalk guard. There he also shared some more details about Edge's struggles. He shared that she had recently lost her husband and was the sole provider for her son. "Let's all come together and show Edge and her family the power of the internet and bless this family," he wrote. "100% of the funds raised will go towards paying rent, food bills, and helping her sons with their education. Be kind and love always ❤️."How a Community Lifts a Sweet Single MotherIt seems that Dereniowksi so enjoyed his night at the ballpark with Edge that he asked her out again (Who could blame him?!). On this night, stadium announcer Chris Butzlaff got on the intercom and asked Edge and Derenioski to come to center field. There, he announced to the crowd that the campaign for Edge was a success, as the people of Detroit who had seen Dereniowski's TikTok raised these extra funds for her. Make that $50,000 extra, as they presented her with a cheque in her name. An overwhelmed Edge fell to her knees in tears, yelling out, "Oh god!" with her arms outstretched. "Who knew that a T-shirt would change my life," Edge told CBS.How a TikToker Proves That Kindness Makes Magic Dereniowksi says that he hopes that this moment inspires scores of kindness copycats worldwide. "I hope that this 'viral kindness' is contagious and creates a ripple effect in the lives of people who have watched this video," he added. There's a bit of a chicken-or-the-egg quandary here. Did this moment happen because of Edge's glow, or because of Dereniowksi tapping into the power of the internet? I'd say both.It just goes to show that when kindness combines, we can cross great places together. Stranger Is Rude to a Man Stuck in Traffic for No Reason - So He Follows Him to Have an Unusual Confrontation at a Starbucks

*Featured image contains photo by MEHMET AYTEMİZIn a world that often tempts us to respond with frustration and anger to rudeness, one beautiful soul chose a different path — one paved with love and understanding. As the wise Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."Why One Man Responded to a Rude Stranger With LoveIt all started when Peter Karanfilis found himself on the receiving end of a rude gesture from another driver on the road. Instead of retaliating, he decided to respond with kindness. Intrigued, he shares the story with a coffee cup and a peace sign in hand.As the man recounted the incident, he explained that he was taken aback by the unexpected rudeness. The other driver had cut him off and even shouted an insult. He couldn't comprehend the reason behind such behavior until he guessed that perhaps the driver was upset because he failed to use his turn signal properly.Seeing an opportunity for a heartfelt interaction, he noticed the rude driver pull into a Starbucks. Without hesitation, he mustered the courage to approach the person responsible for the rude gesture. However, to his surprise, the driver was nowhere to be found inside the coffee shop.Unfazed, the man decided to purchase his own coffee. To his astonishment, fate intervened, and the driver appeared in line behind him, coming from the bathroom. This was his chance to break the cycle of anger. In a selfless act of love, the man offered to buy the rude driver a coffee, on him. The driver seemed stunned by this unexpected gesture. "Really?" he asked incredulously. The man confirmed his sincerity and treated the driver to a coffee. As they spoke, the true story behind the anger emerged — the driver was going through a stressful time, and his turn signal was broken. A simple yet profound human connection blossomed amidst the aroma of coffee and warmth of compassion. The man used this encounter to share a powerful message with the world. Instead of glorifying revenge and getting even, he urged us to embrace peace and understanding. He questioned the never-ending cycle of anger and hostility, asking us to ponder when it will finally cease. How One Man Proved the Importance of Spreading LoveThe story serves as a reminder that we all have our struggles, unknown to others. Responding with love and empathy can bridge the gaps between us and heal wounds we may never see.In a world where anger often dominates, it takes immense courage and strength to respond with love, but it's a choice that can transform lives and make the world a more beautiful place. So, the next time someone treats you with rudeness or anger, take a moment to pause and respond with love. Seek to understand their pain and struggles, and let empathy guide your actions. Remember, it is through love and compassion that we can create a world where peace overcomes hostility, and understanding triumphs over hate. Let us be the bearers of love, igniting a chain reaction of kindness that embraces and unites us all. Together, we can make this world a brighter, more compassionate place — one loving response at a time. Education is an opportunity many of us may take for granted. Whether it is because we grew up in homes that “expected” us to pursue education, or it’s because we live in societies where there is greater access to education, many of us are guilty of overlooking just how grateful we really should be.Street SmartPhoto by Francesco UngaroWell, there is one young boy, Victor Angulo, who did not take his education for granted. In fact, at the young age of 12 years old, Victor was discovered night after night studying underneath a streetlamp. You see, Victor’s family did not have electricity at their home in Moche, Peru, so every night Victor ventured to the streets of Moche to read and complete his homework underneath the outdoor street light.Someone recorded a video of Victor studying at night, and it went viral, for good reason. It is heartbreaking and the image is unforgettable. But, while the photo of a 12-year-old boy laying out on the sidewalk alone completing his studies under a streetlamp at night is a difficult image for the heart to handle, it also prompted one good samaritan into action. From Business Man to BenefactorYaqoob Mubarak, a millionaire and businessman from Bahrain, took matters into his own hands. The issue was clear: Victor’s family needed help. Mubarak decided to venture to Moche himself, and build Victor and his family a new home. Furthermore, he decided to give the family money so that they could start a business."Thank you for the help you are offering, thank you very much because you are helping us to build our school (...) to continue studying."Victor AnguloAnd they say angels don’t exist. The beautiful thing about both Victor Angulo’s actions and Yaqoob Mubarak’s is that they both took matters into their own hands. Victor did not have electricity at home but was determined to obtain an education, and so he went to far lengths to study. Yaqoob Mubarak identified a need and recognized that he could provide the solution, and so he did. Both Victor and Yaqoob did what had to be done, and that is always an admirable trait.Taking Matters Into Our Own HandsWhen we go to far lengths, whether it be for ourselves or for others, we expend energy. As human beings we only have so much energy to expend in a day. However, we allocate this internal resource towards what we believe requires our immediate attention.Victor believed it was worth it to spend his nights studying under a streetlight and Yaqoob believed it was worth it to build him a house so he could do so in privacy, with dignity, and within the comfort of his own home. Both believed in the value of pursuing an education, which at the end of the day truly leaves you to wonder -- what is the real value of an education?Upon closer reflection one may come to realize that the opportunities that come with an education are exponential. The amassing of knowledge and life skills are essential for providing equal opportunities, so that no other young boy like Victor Angulo at 12 years old, has to lay on the sidewalk under a streetlamp so that he can complete his education.More from Goalcast:Homeless Man Bursts Into Tears After Finding Out Strangers Raised Over $15,000 For Him to Buy a HouseAfter Sleeping on Garage Floor, Homeless Boy Sobs When He Learns His Family Finally Has a HouseMom and Her 4 Kids Were Stuck in an Abusive Situation – So She Built Her Own House Using YouTube to EscapeGive back to those who need itWhether it's saving someone at sea or giving up your plane seat, kindness makes a lasting impact.

Poor Mom Tries to Sell Precious Family Heirloom - Jeweler Refuses to Buy It and Does This Instead

A mother of two in North Texas was down on her luck. She was broke and needed money to pay the bills. So, she went to a jeweler to sell a cherished gold necklace given to her by her mother. What happened next stunned her.Why One Jeweler Rejected a NecklacePhoto by Jess Bailey DesignsNoah, the jeweler who refused to give his name, wouldn't buy the necklace.“It seemed like she was sad and there was tears in her eyes,” Noah said to CBS DFW in the 2016 story.Instead of taking the necklace, Noah, who is a Syrian refugee that escaped civil war in 2014, gave the woman something else.“I let her tell me how much she wanted to sell it and I gave her exactly what money she wanted," he said.Noah reached into his pockets and gave the woman the money she would have gotten if she'd sold the necklace.“I didn’t think about it, I just grabbed the money... and gave it to her."NoahThe Human Thing to DoAt that moment, the woman hugged Noah, crying. The jeweler hugged back and wiped tears from her eyes.“If I had her number I would call her back and see if she needed more money or more help, I’ll do it for her,” Noah told CBS DFW.The heartwarming moment was captured on security camera footage and Noah shared the video with someone back home. Unbeknownst to him, the man in Syria shared the video and it went viral.“I feel better and that’s enough. Better than a lot of money,” said Noah.Noah doesn't see himself as a hero. Rather, he was just trying to help out someone who needed a helping hand — which is the kind of generosity he's felt from others since moving to America.“Doesn’t matter what religion you are. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. This is our humanity. Everybody should do that."NoahThe Power of GenerosityIn this capitalist world, it can be tempting to take whatever buck we can. After all, we're all trying to make ends meet. But being unscrupulous with who we do business with can be harmful, too, as Noah realized. Despite being a refugee with mouths to feed, he gave money away. Not for the credit or the fame — he didn't know he was being filmed — but simply because it was the right thing to do. And that's a great reminder for all of us about the importance of generosity. Woman Loses Engagement Ring In Homeless Man's Change Cup - He Returns It

Sometimes life-changing moments happen in the blink of an eye. For a homeless man and a woman trying to donate some spare change, this moment in time resulted in a meaningful moment for both. An accidental giftBilly Ray Harris was a homeless man living on a corner of the street in Kansas City. Part of his daily routine was panhandling to strangers as they walked up and down that street. It was nameless faces connected to nameless bodies, but now there’s one stranger who he will never forget. One day, Sarah Darling was one of those nameless strangers, and as she walked past Harris on the street corner, she dropped a few coins into the cup he was extending. But, something unexpected happened. As she dropped those coins in his cup, she accidentally dropped in her engagement ring with the spare change.Doing the right thingHarris didn’t know what to do at first. He even considered selling the ring, but he knew that was the wrong thing to do, even though he could really use the money. So, rather than take the $4,000 that that ring was appraised for – he instead tracked Darling down and returned the ring.“I am not trying to say that I am no saint, but I am no devil either.” - Billy Ray HarrisDarling and her husband Bill Krejci decided to start a fund to raise money for Harris as a way of saying thank you. That fund ended up raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. The money was then put in a trust for Harris, who is now not only off the streets, but was able to put down money on a car and a house. Also, due to the media attention from what happened, he ended up being reunited with family he had long ago lost touch with.Doing the right thingSometimes, doing the easy thing is tempting, even when we know it's wrong. But if you take a step back and consider paying it forward, you'll find that doing the right thing can lead to incredible, and even impossible-to-believe rewards.More uplifting stories:TikTok Prankster Unexpectedly Befriends Homeless Man, Helps Him Get Out Of DebtMan Finally Meets Mystery Neighbor He’s Been Playing Piano Duets With For WeeksAnti-Timeout Mom Reveals Game-Changing Parenting Tip In Viral Tik Tok PostHow A Kidnapping Survivor Who Escaped From A Car Trunk Is Saving Lives
