Alcott had a rich imagination and writing was an early passion for her. She began with poetry and short stories, and always depicted women as strong and self-reliant.
She wrote her most famous novel Little Women based on recollections of her own childhood. Although she had to write it under pressure, due to her family’s needs, the book was an instant success and has never been out of print since.
