Why a Husband Laughed In Wife's Face After Her Post-Chemo Makeover

Just when we think we've got it all under control, life has a way of ripping the rug right out from under us. It may be as simple as our car breaking down at the worst possible time (it's always when we have somewhere we really need to be). It could be a little more frustrating like getting slapped with surprise bills that'll make us dip into our savings. But there's one kind of disaster that's the hardest to come back from.

15-Year-Old Feels a Spark With Her Sisters Prom Date - 70 Years Later the Unthinkable Happens

Shirley Peasley is the woman who believed her sister would never forgive her, after a simple prom night went shockingly wrong.Way back in the 1950s, Shirley Peasley's younger sister Kay was getting ready for the night of her life. She had scored a date with her high school's heartthrob, Harold, and he was taking her to the prom! Peasley couldn't have been more excited for her sister and she helped her primp up for her date, but then, the door bell rang too soon. She Said Her Sister "Should Have Been Ready"Patrick Q/FlickrPeasley quickly rushed downstairs to stall her sister's date, but fate had other plans. In a delightful rom-com twist, Shirley and Harold couldn't stop bantering back and forth. Their spark was undeniable. By the time Kay came downstairs, Shirley pulled her aside and confessed she felt a magnetic connection with Harold. She didn't want to play games or try to go behind her beloved sister's back, so she addressed her feelings about him head on. She asked for her permission to "steal" her date.Even though it was early days for Shirley and Harold (less than a few hours), without hesitating, her younger sister Kay sweetly acquiesced to her sister's wishes, opting out of their date — she didn't want to go out with a boy who had eyes for another girl — especially if that girl was her older sister.“She should have been ready when he showed up. She was taking too long getting ready!”Shirley Peasley, PEOPLELooking back, Shirley Peasley playfully poked fun at the situation. WHILE she had never intended to to steal her sister's date — she couldn't deny that Harold had charisma. “I thought he was handsome and I knew he was popular in school with sports and everything,” Shirley explained. “So of course I wanted to date him."With a mischievous grin and unapologetic charm, Shirley recounted how her bold move paved the way for a lifetime of love and laughter with Harold — oh, and did we forget to mention? The couple just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary!Their 70 Year Secret RevealedCOURTESY SHIRLEY AND HAROLD PEASLEYHarold and Shirley Peasley may have fallen in love in an "unconventional" way, but 70 years later, their fire is still burning and it may just prove the best way to fall in love, is your own way.“He waits on me hand and foot. If I tell him I’m gonna go get the clothes out of the dryer, he’s out there and got them out before I can do it. He takes good care of me.”Shirley Peasley, PEOPLETheir secret to staying in love? It's simple; according to Harold, they "do everything together," finding joy in each moment shared. Despite the passing years, their bond remains as strong as ever, a testament to the power of love and companionship. As they celebrate their remarkable 70th wedding anniversary, Harold and Shirley serve as a shining example of love's ability to endure and flourish, no matter the odds. They Didn’t Even Tell Their Kids How They Met!No one gives Shirley and Harold a tough time about how they met — after all, they were only 15 years old at the time of the "crime."In fact, the couple were so in love, they wed just three short years later as soon as Shirley was of age. Now, Harold and Shirley Peasley share children, Mike, 69, John, 62, Kim, 58, Kris, 55, and their “unofficial” adopted son, Greg Rushton, 60, who grew up near the Peasleys. But their five kids never knew exactly how it all went down — until a surprising revelation on a family cruise vacation about 20 years ago, during their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. During a "Love and Marriage" event hosted onboard the ship, the couple was selected to participate in the game where their endearing love story took center stage. The host asked Shirley and Harold exactly how they met — which is when they revealed the entire story without mincing any details! The host went on to make the questions even spicier when he asked the couple what was the most unexpected place they had ever made love. That's when their grandchildren hilariously piped up exclaiming, "We do not need to know that!"Their Spark Lights Up Every Room They’re InUnlike lots of couples who marry "too young," these long time love birds couldn't have gotten married soon enough. Over 73 years together and the couple still feels like they're living in a fairytale...and the trickle down effect is no joke.“Growing up, my life was like a fairytale,” daughter Kris Flanders tells PEOPLE. “We were camping, we were boating. They were just amazing parents. I hang out with my parents now because they are so much fun.”Love really is infectious. The Peasleys still keep it playful after all the years and it's the most important reminder that while love is patient and love is kind — it also can be fun too. Even in their late 80's, Shirley and Harold Peasley still bring out the 15-year-old spirit in one another, and it's beautiful.Love Is More Than Just Grand GesturesIn the end, it's not just about the stolen moments or the grand celebrations — it's about the everyday gestures, the quiet conversations, and the unwavering support that define their love story. Harold and Shirley Peasley remind us that love knows no bounds and that, sometimes, it's the unexpected twists that lead to the greatest love stories of all.Perhaps the real secret is looking at everyday as a new adventure with the one you love — whether you're sailing the seven seas or just picking up a salmon filet from your local supermarket!More from Goalcast:Teen’s Struggling Dad Works Hard to Make Ends Meet – So She Takes a 25-Mile Detour to Do This Before PromMan Makes a Promise to 11-Year-Old Neighbor – Keeps It Going For Over 20 Years for This Special ReasonTeen Refuses to Go to Prom With Her Classmate in Front of 2000 People – Crushed, He Comes Up With a New Plan

Man Takes Care of the Bills for 4 Decades - After He Passes Away, His Wife Makes an Incredible Discovery

*Featured image contains photos by Mikhail NilovAs one incredible final act of love, one husband made certain that his wife was taken care of long after he was gone. And if this isn't the epitome of true love, I don't know what is.Husband's Legacy of LoveIn most marriages, household responsibilities tend to get divvied up between both partners. It's not uncommon for one person to take the lead in managing household bills and expenses. For forty-one years, X (formerly Twitter) user @AriThinks' father exclusively took care of all the household bills. In fact, he took such good care of them that his wife never had to pay a bill. Now, even in death, he's still doing it. In a tweet that's gone viral with over 5.2 MILLION views (because who doesn't want a love like this??) @AriThinks shares that her father passed away a few days ago. After he died, the family made an incredible discovery. Her father had paid off all the bills six months in advance so her mother could rest easy and take the time to grieve in peace. "My Dad passed a few days ago and my Mom doesn’t even know who he makes payments to because she’s never paid a bill," she wrote. "So we call and find out that like all the bills were paid up 6 months in advance." Not only did he pay the bills six months in advance, but he also put credits on the utilities, including gas, water, and electricity, that will last her FOR YEARS. Reaction to the Viral TweetIn addition to being viewed millions of times, thousands of people came forward to offer their condolences and to praise @AriThinks' father for his selflessness and unwavering devotion to his family."He loves her. Even death couldn’t take that away. May his sweet soul rest in perfect peace."@Lewa_Forbes via X"Accept my condolences but your father is truly an amazing man, RIP to him. Not all heroes wears capes... Salute," wrote @Nueladedoyinfi1."Wow, that peace to give her. Sorry for your loss. Condolences to you & your family," said @highlyher."So sorry for your loss. R.I.P. What an amazing thoughtful gift your father gave all of you! Oh my goodness to think that far ahead knowing all would need his foresight," Karen Williams commented.True Love Lasts ForeverThe commenters are right. It's not just the fact that the bills are paid that makes the gesture so heartwarming. It's the fact that this man had the foresight to ensure that his wife wouldn't have to shoulder the responsibility alone. Losing someone we love is one of the most painful and difficult things we have to endure in life. Sometimes it's all we can do to just keep breathing, never mind having to look after the day-to-day duties. By securing these essentials for his wife, he has provided her with a sense of security and stability during a time that feels anything but.His actions reflect a level of care, dedication, and consideration that goes beyond mere financial responsibility; it is love...in its purest form.He loved her so much in life that he wanted to make sure she was still okay in his death.Grand gestures of love are great but it's in the everyday, looking out for each other kind of ways, where true love is really found. It's in the small things people do for each other, just to make life easier. It's in sharing responsibilities so one person doesn't have to carry the burden alone. Even though he's gone, this husband's love for his wife lives on in his small gestures of kindness and care. And that? Is the kind of love that lasts forever.More from Goalcast:Woman Is Diagnosed With Dementia – So Her Husband of 55 Years Makes a VowShocked Mom Finds Dozens of Notes In Her Daughter’s Drawers – Realizes Her Husband Has Given ThemWoman Wakes Up to Husband’s Dirty Dishes in the Sink – Instead of Cleaning Up, He Left Her a Note With 3 Words

Interracial Couple Defies Racism and Weds 46 Years Ago - Today, Theyre Still Not Letting Anything Stop Them

Jeri and Mike Wirtz are used to defying the odds.An interracial couple in the 1970s, prejudice and racism were far from a thing of the past despite the ground-breaking legalization of mixed marriages in 1967. It was truly them against the world. And now? It's them against cancer. And if love's got anything to do with it, cancer doesn't stand a chance. Interracial Couple Doesn’t Let Anything Stand in the Way of LoveThe year was 1976 when Jeri and Mike first laid eyes on each other by the pool at their apartment complex. Both in their mid-20s, Jeri was working as a model and fashion designer and Mike was with AT&T. It took Mike a week to summon up the courage to ask her out on a date, but then they fell hard and fast. "We knew that prejudice and interracial...you know, people were against it a lot. But that was something we were not going to let stop us," Jeri told Good Morning America.A year later, the couple wed at a small wedding chapel in Artesia, Cerritos in Southern California. Three years later they welcomed their daughter, Nicole and in 1985, their son Ryan was born. Now, 3 grandchildren and 46 years later, Mike and Jeri say a lot has changed in the world regarding acceptance and integration. "I just look around and I'm just amazed because it's totally, totally integrated with every race you could imagine," Mike said about his grandchildren's school in an interview with Good Morning America. And while the world may have changed over the years, one thing has remained steadfastly the same — they're still each other's "ONE." Even though it hasn't always been easy, nearly five decades later, they're still going strong. "We maintained our marriage because we both took our vows seriously and made a commitment to each other."Mike Wirtz via Newsweek"It's important to respect one another and not to try and change your partner, because at the end of the day, you fell in love with who they are. That's what makes them so special and unique."Becoming Instagram and TikTok FamousAt the age of 72, the couple decided to become content creators after their son posted a quick 10-second "teenage dirtbag" photo montage of his parents on TikTok. The video went viral with nearly 2 million people instantly falling in love with the duo.In just a few months, their social media has taken off. And one quick look at their reels and it's so easy to see why. Because true love? The kind that stirs the soul and is the stuff of Hollywood movies? Isn't dead.Thirty-eight million people have fallen in love with their love story. But it's not just their enviable love that has everyone in their feelings or the fact that they are living proof that even in the face of racism and discrimination, love always wins. It's also their infectious positivity, joy, and hope, even while battling cancer. Love Always WinsIn 2017, Jeri was diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer. Three years later, Mike also heard the dreaded words, "It's prostate cancer."After undergoing treatment, Mike is now cancer-free. And even though there is no cure for Jeri, she's choosing to live her life to the fullest. "I have fought through chemo and radiation and I refuse to give up," she wrote on one of her Instagram reels. She believes that anything is possible. And when you watch her unbridled joy and zest for life she makes you believe that anything is possible too. Jeri and Mike hope that by sharing their story, the good and the bad, they can inspire others struggling with their own life challenges. "I think so many people resonated with our story because we are real people, just living our lives despite whatever obstacles life throws our way. I hope we can inspire people to never give up and keep going," Mike said.So What Is Their Secret to Long and Lasting Love?As for how they’ve made it work all these years, they both say trust and respect have a lot to do with it. (Also, the fact that they both literally never seem to age doesn't hurt, probably)."First and foremost, you need to be friends who genuinely like each other. You can't mold each other into something you're not," Jeri advises."It's about accepting your partner for who they are, quirks and all, while they do the same for you," she continues. "And at the core of it all, it's about cultivating love, mutual respect, and unwavering trust in each other."Clearly, they've figured it out because it's definitely working for them. Jeri and Mike met at a time when interracial relationships were still being viewed through a lens of prejudice and discrimination. Despite societal pressures and negative attitudes, they chose each other. And regardless of what life throws at them, they're still choosing each other. As much as things change, so many things remain the same. As we continue to witness profound global divisions, their story of the power of love, strength, and resilience is more important than ever. 100-Year-Old Veteran Wasn't Interested in 96-Year-Old When They First Met - Now Theyre Getting Married

Eighty years ago, a World War II veteran named Harold Terens landed in France as a 20-year-old Army Air Forces corporal. It was shortly after D-Day, and the vet had seen and experienced a number of hardships and victories since enlisting in 1942.This summer, Terens will return to France as part of the 80th anniversary celebration of the country’s liberation from the Nazis. There, according to the Associated Press, the 100-year-old will mark the occasion by marrying his fiancée, Jeanne Swerlin. Never Too Old for LoveTerens and Swerlin, who is 96, will marry in a town called Carentan-les-Marais near the beaches where the U.S. troops landed, reports the publication. The couple met in 2021 when mutual friends thought they would hit it off. At their first lunch together, they barely looked at each other because Terens was still grieving the death of his wife Thelma and wasn't interested in other women. But when friends brought them to dinner the next night, it was love at second sight.“He was introducing me to the whole world, ‘I want you to meet my girl, my sweetheart,’ and I didn’t even know him more than two days,” Swerlin recalled. “Being in love is not just for the young. We get butterflies just like everybody else.”A few months ago, Terens got down on one knee and recalled Swerlin being “hysterical.”“I thought I’d have to help him up, but he’s so macho,” she said. The wedding will take place June 8 in a chapel built in the 1600s and will be officiated by the mayor, Jean-Pierre Lhonneur. Legally, Lhonneur is only allowed to marry town residents, but he believes the local prosecutor will allow an exception in this case.“It will be a pleasure for us,” Lhonneur said.Finding Love AgainThis won’t be the bride or groom's first wedding. Terens married his first wife, Thelma, in 1948. They had two daughters and a son, and Terens went on to work for a British conglomerate. Thelma passed away in 2018 after 70 years of marriage, leaving behind eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Swerlin married when she was 21 years old and became a full-time mom to two girls and a boy. Her first husband passed away when she was in her 40s, but she found love again and married her second husband. They were married for 18 years when he, too, passed away. Swerlin found her third love, a man named Sol Katz, after that. They lived together for 25 years before he died in 2019.Katz’ daughter, who met Terens when her kids and Terens’ grandchildren went to camp together, was the first to introduce the vet to Swerlin.“She gave my dad such joy,” the daughter explained. “I didn’t want her to be lonely.”Looks like she got her wish.“I love this girl — she is quite special,” Terens said.“He’s an amazing guy, amazing,” Swerlin said. “He loves me so much, and he says it. And my god, he’s the greatest kisser!”It’s Never Too LateHearing about a 100-year-old and a 96-year-old finding each other and feeling like high school sweethearts is downright heartwarming. It reminds us that it’s never too late for love, new chances, or a shot at life. We never know what the world will throw at us, and sometimes, it can feel like the bad outweighs the good. But if you keep putting yourself out there and remain open to unexpected opportunities, the good can also outweigh the bad.If these two could find each other after losing so many loved ones and experiencing the hardships of war, then anyone can. We all deserve good things in life, but the first step to getting them is to believe in ourselves and our ability to love — no matter how old we are!More from Goalcast:Widow Remarries Years Later – Asks Her Previous Husband’s Dad Onto the Dance Floor for This ReasonMan Meets His Wife During World War II in a Club – 74 Years Later, He’s First to Take the Same Dance Floor Once AgainWWII Veteran Has Kept a Photograph of a 14-Year-Old in His Pocket for 78 Years – Then His Mystery Girl Showed Up

11-Year-Old Grabs Microphone at Fathers Wedding - Reveals the Truth About His New Wife

Unfortunately, not everyone grows up with two parents. Sometimes, kids are raised by a single parent due to divorce or life circumstances. It can be hard, but the single-parent/child bond can also be an incredibly close one. When someone new enters the picture, it can mean a big period of adjustment. So, when one 11-year-old boy told the truth about how his dad’s new wife was there for him on their wedding day, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.A Beautiful SpeechIn a video shared to Newsnercom, an 11-year-old boy grabbed the microphone at his father’s wedding. At first, no one knew what he was going to say, but he was prepared. As everyone waited in anticipation, the boy began nervously reading from a prepared speech.“I feel very, very blessed being here today,” he began as his dad and new mom looked on. “Not only because I have such an amazing father, but because I get to see my father marry someone as equally amazing as him.”The proud father smiled, and his bride beamed as the boy continued. He explained how, when he first met Ashley, he was worried she wouldn’t like him very much because he thought she was just a “common friend” of his dad’s. When he realized she was more than a friend, he was a bit “grossed out” but quickly changed his mind.“She was very caring and treated my father well. Seeing my father happy around her made me understand that she was pretty cool,” he continued.A New Family of ThreeThe thoughtful kid also explained how, for years it was just him and his dad. He didn’t feel like they needed anyone else and that they always had a great time together. Then Ashley came around, and he had a big realization: they hadn't been complete until she joined their family.“It was different in a way that made us even stronger,” the wise boy continued, adding how his dad has always been a terrible cook and Ashley “saved” him from that.“With lots of love in my heart I just want to say thank you, Ashley, for everything. You make my dad a better person by enlightening our lives and being so welcoming. I always thought we were the ones welcoming you into our lives, but the truth is you opened your heart and welcomed the crazy Moderno boys into yours.”He added that now he has the “coolest” stepmom and step-grandmom. Then he wrapped it all up with a cheers. The family hugged and toasted together, celebrating their new life.Adapting to ChangeThis story is touching and heartfelt because it reminds us that family is more than just the traditional unit we see so often in media and pop culture. Families can be blended, adopted, or chosen, and sometimes, it isn’t until we participate in one of those things that we really feel as though we’ve found our people. This boy’s speech is also a great reminder that sometimes change really is a good thing. So if you’re struggling, try and see the positive in a situation and understand where and how it might be good for you, and even make you stronger. If an 11-year-old boy can do that (and give such a great speech about it!), certainly we can, too.More from Goalcast:Single Dad Reaches His Stepdaughter’s School for Mother’s Day Event – But He Wasn’t Dressed as Himself9-Year-Old Girl Loses Her Mom – Years Later, She Pens a Message About Her Single DadBride Makes Her New 4-Year-Old Stepson Sob by Reading the Wedding Vows She Had Specially Written for Him

Teacher Keeps a Secret From His Students - When They Find out the Truth, They Show up at His Wedding Rehearsal

This choir director received the surprise of a lifetime.Love is a powerful emotion, especially when it touches other people. It also comes in many different shapes and forms, and even though some may try to judge it, at the end of the day love is love. One middle school choir director had that message drilled into his very core on the day of his wedding rehearsal when he received the surprise of a lifetime from his students.Guarding His Personal LifeA Massachusetts middle school choir teacher named Christopher Landis loved teaching his kids. He was also beloved by the students, and many of them got to know him during their time together. So when a man started coming by to see Landis on a regular basis, the kids were curious about who he was.“That’s Joe, he’s my friend,” Landis would reply. In reality though, Joe Michienzie was Landis’ fiancé. Landis was just afraid to tell his students the truth because he was scared they would judge him or that it would upset their parents.Still, kids are smarter than we sometimes give them credit for and it didn’t take long for them to figure out that Michienzie was more than a pal. When their parents learned about the situation, they formulated a plan.A Memorable RehearsalOn the day of the engaged couple’s wedding rehearsal, they held a brunch. There, Landis noticed people were pulling out their phones, but he wasn’t sure why. That’s when he received the surprise of a lifetime: his students began filing in.“I saw the first student come in and I was like, ‘Oh my goodness,’” Landis explained to InsideEdition. “I don’t think it hit me until all of these students came in and they were smiling and all dressed up. Then I started crying, and they started crying.”According to the publication, Michienzie was in on the surprise. The parents had contacted him after learning about his engagement to their kids' teacher, and they asked if they could get the students to perform.A Moment of AcceptanceNeedless to say, Landis was shocked. He had no idea the kids knew about his relationship, let alone the fact that the parents and his fiancé had been secretly working for months together on an epic surprise. It wasn’t over there, though. Once inside, the kids sang a version of All You Need Is Love by The Beatles. It was the reminder Landis needed that love is love, and not only was there love between him and his fiancé, but his students loved him for who he was as well.“I felt like when the kids came to sing they were basically saying, 'It's OK. We know who Joe is.' So now I say, 'Joe, my husband,'” Landis added.Always Be YourselfThe best way to be authentically happy in life is to be yourself and, as hard as it might be at times, to trust that others will accept you for who you are. That’s the powerful lesson behind this beautiful story, which reminds us that sometimes we’re scared to show ourselves to others for fear of judgment. But, by living in the moment, being true to ourselves, not judging others for who they are, and leading by example, good people do come into our lives. The world isn’t perfect, but by showing the type of kindness and acceptance that Landis showed to his kids, his kids reciprocated it tenfold. In the end, he learned that it’s okay to be himself, just as he taught his kids that it’s okay for them to be their true selves, too.More from Goalcast:Retiring Teacher Left Stunned When Her Students – Past and Present – Surprised Her at Disney, Her Favorite PlaceMath Teacher Who Commutes Four Hours Every Day Gets Life-Changing Surprise from StudentsStudents Notice Something Strange About Their Favorite Physics Teacher —His Confession Takes Them by Surprise

Woman Goes Through Her Camera Roll - Cant Believe Her Eyes When She Sees This in the Background of a Photo

Instagram went wild when wellness influencer, Jenn Chia (@soimjenn) posted a startling video that reveals her current husband lurking in the background of a selfie she snapped. Which wouldn't be a red flag at all — if it weren't for the fact that they weren't together at the time.In fact, they wouldn't even meet for another 2 years. The "coincidence" had fans going off with all kinds of crazy theories...but Chia had her own.She Was Going through Her Camera Roll and Couldn’t Believe Her EyesJenn Chia, 31, revealed the plot twist of a lifetime, when she created a mashup video made up of several images, taken over 10 years. Needless to say, the video tells a pretty crazy story — and it's making us question everything we know when it comes to fate."I'm still shaking looking at this." Jenn Chia, InstagramOn Oct. 10th, 2012, Chia's friend snapped a pic of her posing at what appears to be a crowded food court. Chia's head is titled while she smiles wide for the camera. She's blissfully unaware of how this seemingly simple moment she captured on camera, would blow her mind over a decade later. In her Instagram video, Chia zooms in on a stranger hovering over her shoulder. The man has a two-strapped backpack on his shoulders and seems to be looking off in the distance. But even in profile, this then-stranger is unmistakable. His name is Jon Liddell — and he's Jenn Chia's future husband.Watch Jenn Chia's Video: After the photo of Chia snapped in October of 2012, Chia's video cuts to a photo taken of the couple, two years later in 2014.The lovebirds are cozied up on a ferris wheel and Liddell poses with a stuffed animal he presumably won for Chia at a carnival. By the looks of it, it's a pretty swoon-worthy date! But Chia saves the best for last. She shares an intimate black and white photograph, taken on their wedding day. She captioned the pic simply, "Married 9 years later."Jenn Chia, InstagramIt should go without saying, with an incredible twist of fate like theirs, that the comment section blew up with all kinds of responses! Fans Were Calling It “The Invisible String Theory”Chia's post racked up over 45,000 shares and hundreds of comments!People from all over the world were putting in their two cents — and it's priceless. Everything from the heartfelt to the hilarious.Jenn Chia, Instagram [comments]But perhaps the favorite theory was "The Invisible String Theory."If you don't know what the invisible string theory is — don't worry. It may sound complicated but it's a pretty simple concept. What’s the Invisible String Theory? In East Asia, there exists a Chinese folklore legend known as The Red Thread of Fate. According to this myth, two individuals destined to be soulmates are said to be connected by an unseen red cord. This cord ensures that, despite the challenges of time, distance, or obstacles, they will inevitably reunite with each other.Sounds crazy? It may just be — but when you hear a story like Chia and Liddells' it's hard not think that maybe there's something to it?Even though The Invisible String Theory is an ancient legend, it was recently re-popularized on TikTok and we have none other than Taylor Swift to thank for that! They Gave Taylor Swift a Little Shout OutThe massive pop star is known to leave all kinds of obscure "easter eggs" for her fans — and her album Folklore is no exception. In her song Invisible String, Swift sings about how timing is everything and how we're all connected — and it set off an awesome TikTok trend.TikTokers were inspired by this song to share their own love stories — before they even knew their love stories!Including Jenn Chia are her husband, Jon Liddell. After their video went viral, they did a sweet musical tribute to how we're all connected. The song they chose to sing was — you guessed it — T-Swizzle's Invisible String. “The Right Person Will Find You at the Right Time”Perhaps the best part of their rollercoaster love story is how the married couple were able to reflect on how the timing is always right, even if we don't know it yet.Instead of wishing she'd have turned around all those years ago and spare herself two years of dating heartache — Jenn Chia sees it differently."We met at the right time. If it was before, I don’t think the relationship would have lasted. I was a narcissistic monster, unaware and naive. Took me a year of travelling and being single to reflect and realize my own mistakes. That’s when we met."Jenn Chia, InstagramHer husband, Liddell doubled down on the same sentiment.Jenn Chia, Instagram [comments]When it comes to love, we can rush around trying to meet our soulmate or even worse — think they may not even be out there at all.But if Jenn Chia's love story reminds of us anything, it's an anecdote for the famous words: "What is meant to be yours, will always find its way to you."More from Goalcast:

Woman Is Diagnosed With Dementia - So Her Husband of 55 Years Makes a Vow

Just in case you think true love is dead, think again. In a real-life story straight out of The Notebook, one husband is making sure that his wife (who suffers from dementia) is living her best life. Each and every day. And if this doesn't make the most skeptical among us believe in the power of love, nothing will. All in the Name of LoveIt's been 55 years since Jim and Maureen of Sydney, Australia said "I Do." Their love story began on Queenscliff Beach, the site of their first date decades ago. It's a beach they still frequent multiple times a week.“Our first date was to go to Queenscliff Beach, that’s the first time I held Maureen’s hand,” Jim told the Manly Observer. "And every day when I come to the beach, we walk down to Queenscliff and I remind her that this is where we first held hands." "But she doesn’t understand,” he added, tears in his eyes.Sadly, four years ago, Maureen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. In 2021, during a stint in the hospital, doctors told Jim that his wife had very little time left. Despite the fact that Maureen no longer remembered much of their life together, Jim decided then and there to make it his mission to make every day they had left count. He's held onto that promise. For three years...and counting. Husband’s Sweet Gesture for Wife With Dementia“My philosophy is each day, I want to give Maureen the best day she can have. That statement stems from when she came out of the hospital, and each day could have been her last," Jim said.Part of that includes taking Maureen for a lunch date and a stroll along their favorite beach at least three days a week. It was during their walks that Jim noticed something heartbreaking. Maureen would attempt to engage passersby, often reaching out to try to touch their hands. Almost always, she was ignored. Jim knew, after speaking to a friend whose father had dementia, that this kind of physical connection was a way for Maureen to communicate with folks around her. “He was telling me that, right at the end, the last days with his dad, they [communicate] by signals of squeezing hands and so on, so taking in a whole lot more than they realised,” Jim explained.Jim wanted to prove to his wife that while she may not remember who she is, she isn't forgotten. He enlisted the help of a local design and print studio, CRE8withJAZ.He had a t-shirt custom-made with the words, "My beautiful wife has dementia. Please say "Hello" to her," emblazoned across it.It worked.Spreading a Message About People With DementiaOnce Jim started wearing the shirt on their dates, people began to take notice of Maureen. In fact, the results were overwhelming.“What surprised me initially was that so many people were foreign tourists from all over the world," he said. And just by taking a moment or two to acknowledge the couple has made a real impact in their lives. “I’d really like to thank all the people that have stopped by and had a chat to Maureen, they really brighten her day, which brightens mine."Jim hopes sharing his story will spread an important message about people with Alzheimer's and dementia."[They] are living people and should be treated that way."He added that being a caregiver has given him a whole new perspective on the importance of seeing and validating the people around us. “I’m no expert, but as I walk along Manly Beach, I’ve been doing it for four years, I noticed a lot of people with some sort of handicap or were walking with a carer that looked lonely. I’ll go up to them and say hello, to have a chat to them and I think more people should do that and just notice the people around them.”The Love of a LifetimeIt's obvious that when Jim vowed to love, honor, and cherish Maureen through sickness and in health five decades ago, he meant it. As difficult and heartbreaking as it is to watch the person we've spent a lifetime loving slowly slip away, it is heartening to know that love still finds its way. And their grandson, Noah, confirms it. In a comment on social media, he wrote:"That’s my beautiful grandparents! I have never seen someone Iove another person as much as these two love each other and I hope I can take care of someone the way my Poppy does one day."It's stories like these that fuel the hopeless romantic in us. But they also remind us of just how precious love is.The reality is that none of us know how much time we have with the ones we love. And while we may not be able to control time or what life throws at us, we can do our best to make the most of every single minute. One animator found the perfect way to pop the question to his longtime girlfriend — and it is setting the bar pretty high for any couple who loves a grand gesture! When animator Lee Loechler bought movie tickets for a relaxed night out, his then girlfriend Stuthi David thought it was just a simple date night. As far as David knew, Loechler had scored tickets to a throwback screening of her favorite Disney flick, Sleeping Beauty — little did she know this was no coincidence. The Timeless Magic of DisneyMassachusetts couple Lee Loechler and Stuthi David were high school sweethearts who fatefully split up after going their separate ways for college; then they found their way back to each other a decade later."My girlfriend and I were high school sweethearts. We split up when we moved away for college, but, through freak happenstance, reconnected ten years later and got back together.”Lee LoechlerLoechler knew that Sleeping Beauty was one of his girlfriend's favorite comfort movies and no matter how tired she was from work, she wouldn't be able to resist.Thankfully she said "yes"...or at least...she was about to!No matter how many times David had re-watched Sleeping Beauty as a kid, there was a big twist ending she never saw coming! And thankfully, Loechler made sure to record the whole thing! He Spent a Year Planning His ProposalWith the help of illustrator, Kayla Coombs (@kaylacoombs) Loechler found the best way to put a modern twist on this 1959 classic film.Together, the creatives came up with a clever scheme to make the big moment as awesome as possible.Yes, "Aurora" and "Prince Philip" were redesigned to look just like Loechler and David!Over a grueling 6 months, Coombs and Loechler re-animated the film's most iconic scene: when Sleeping Beauty is woken up from her slumber with a kiss from the prince. Then, they switched out the original scene for Coombs' version and the result may be even better than the original!"I thought there was something wrong with the movie!"Stuthi DavidAt first David can tell something is off when the Prince goes to wakeup Aurora. She knows something is going on but she doesn't know what, and when she finally figures it out...her reaction is priceless.Watch Lee Loechler's Video:The animated Loechler playfully "tosses" a box off screen — which the real-life Loechler "catches." It's then that he pops the most important question of all and after saying "yes," the next thing David said may be even better. The cardiologist quickly realized a bunch of strangers were sitting in on her big special moment...or were they? When She Turned Around She Saw All Their Friends and FamilyLoechler knew he'd have to be sneaky if he was going to try and get a fast one on David. So he posted a Reddit thread and asked a bunch of random strangers to fill a few seats around David and himself to act as a "buffer." Loechler had reserved over half the seats for their friends and family but wanted them to be hidden in the crowd."Oh my God, these poor people!" David exclaims in the video referring to the audience members. A second later, she turns around to see all the audience members are actually not strangers at all, but her friends and family!“The only thing better than seeing the smartest person I know completely dumbfounded was knowing we’d get to live happily ever after together.”Lee LoechlerJust when she thought the moment couldn't get any better, it did.Everyone’s “Knight in Shining Armor” Looks Different It's safe to say, while this fairytale proposal was perfect for this couple, not everyone wants such a grand gesture and that's perfectly OK.“She loves this sort of thing.
