Customer Walks Into Business and Demands a $1000 Hamburger - The Owner Refuses and Does This Instead

It goes without saying that after the COVID-19 pandemic everyone was hit hard. But some of the people who were hit the hardest were small business owners. In the early pandemic, over 700,000 independent American businesses shut down. Even though the figures are heartbreaking...there's one small business owner out there who's giving us hope!In the small town of Windsor, Ontario, Taystee Grill made it through the pandemic. But instead of hoarding their resources, the team at Taystee Grill are inviting others who are not-so-fortunate to join them on the other side — one hamburger at a time. With the help of one crazy customer, Taystee Grill put their money where their mouths were — literally. What's even better? They caught the whole thing on camera.A Stranger Demanded a “$1000 Hamburger”@mdmotivator/TikTokIt was business as usual at Taystee Grill, when a strange customer came in making an even stranger request."Can I have a $1,000 Hamburger?" Zachery DereniowskiWith hamburgers priced at under $10, the female employee manning the burger counter didn't understand this customer's question."Don't worry about it," she insisted, declining this customer's crazy offer. But he didn't seem satisfied. She didn't know what else to say to keep this customer happy. So she simply suggested the gentleman check out their (reasonably priced) menu. But this was one customer who wouldn't let up!The customer continued asking for $1,000 hamburger. When he could see he wasn't getting anywhere with her, he switched up his strategy. Instead, he asked if the owner of the restaurant was around. Not sure how else to deal with this customer, the Taystee Grill employee called in her boss, Haissam Chouman — and you won't believe what happened next. So, see for yourself because the entire bizarre exchange was caught on camera!Watch Taystee Grill's Video:He Made Them an Offer They Couldn’t RefuseYes. As it turns out, the "strange customer" was none other than Zachery Dereniowski, otherwise known as @mdmotivator. For those who aren't familiar with his "body of work," Dereniowski is an internet celebrity who made his fame off of giving others his fortune! His instagram bio simply reads: "kindness is cool" — and he's not wrong. He Was a Man With a PlanWhen he walked into Taystee Grill, Dereniowski wanted to hit two birds with one stone. He wanted to give an independent restaurant a little unforeseen boost of $1000 in under 10 minutes — and he wanted to take those burgers to feed the homeless. But Taystee Grill owner, Haissam Chouman refused. He wouldn't accept the $1,000. What he did instead, was so much better.Together, They Went to Feed the HomelessIn a twist, @mdmotivator didn't see coming — his money was no good at Taystee Grill. Chouman was so inspired by his act of goodwill, he agreed to make 100 hamburgers for free. Not only that, but Chouman decided he would take the rest of the day off, to help Dereniowski feed the streets."There is a lot of people who need help. We feed people — me and you." Haissam Chouman, Owner of Tasytee GrillIn a beautiful act of conjoined kindness, Chouman and Dereniowski hit the streets together, to hand out burgers to those in need of a hot bite to eat.The video went viral and the comment section blew up. "This is Taystee Grill in Windsor. SUPPORT THEM ❤️" is just one comment (written by @r.a.n.n.a.e) that racked up 84K likes!Haissam Chouman's local community couldn't have been more proud of their neighbor and they wanted the world to know it!His Message to the World Is a Message for Us All@mdmotivator/TikTokWhile they prepared the food, Dereniowski asked Chouman one important question. He asked him if he had a "message for the world."And Chouman's answer didn't disappoint."Just live together. No war. Nothing. Everybody love each other. Live together. Love is the best."Haissam Chouman, Owner of Taystee GrillSure, it may sound like a simple philosophy, but it's obviously effective. His soft-hearted words aren't just words, they are a way of life. And he's practicing what he preaches! It's a gentle reminder that we should all do the same.More from Goalcast:

Woman Holding Balloons in Freezing Cold Passes by Police Officers - Their Body-Cam Footage Exposes What Happens Next

It's standard practice for police to review their rank and file's body-cam footage to perfect how they patrol. Yet, when Gwinnett County Georgia played the tape of their rank and file, they couldn't believe their eyes. Cams caught Stg. Nick Boney and Officer Jimmy Wilson one frigid night when they spotted a woman walking while holding balloons. When stopped, the woman told them that she was on her way home after walking over two miles to get balloons for her daughter's birthday. However, she didn't have a cake. Why a Woman Walked 2 Miles in the Freezing Cold to Buy BalloonsWilson told the Washington Post that when they heard the woman didn't have a cake for her little one's birthday, they had to step in. As a kid, I remember the cake almost being the best thing about my birthday, so I was more than happy to go find a birthday cake for this 1-year-old. It was heart-wrenching that the woman didn’t have enough money for a birthday cake.Officer Jimmy Wilson Boney offered the woman a ride, and she gave him a hug, thanking him profusely. However, during the ride home, they made one small stop along the way. As they stopped at a nearby market, Boney gave Wilson his credit card to get a cake with the number '1' on it. Police Officers Buy Woman a Cake for Her Daughter’s BirthdayIt turns out that the party was just getting started. Their body-cam footage showed Boney and Wilson walking the woman to her apartment, where they are greeted with hugs from each of her daughters. "The little girls, when they ran up to give us a hug and stuff, it was just like it was part of the family," recalled Boney. And so, they celebrated as a family. Everyone joined in singing 'Happy Birthday' to the beaming birthday girl. Wilson said it was priceless. “It was awesome to meet the birthday girl,” he said. “My favorite reaction was seeing her and the rest of the kids blow the candle out."How 2 Officers Proved That a Little Love Can Warm Up the WorldFor Wilson, the experience shows the power of being human. All it takes is a little love and compassion for one another -- it was a special moment for me to give that family a memorable experience.Officer Jimmy Wilson That's what it's all about: Connecting on a human level to create positive memories during our short stay on this Earth. As Boney and Wilson showed us, that can include law enforcement. Obviously, their job doesn't always permit them to connect with people in that way. However, when there's a chance to brighten a kid's birthday, help a struggling father, or feed someone in need, you better believe they do.In the end, policing, like life, is about people.More from Goalcast:Little Girl With Autism Tries to Blow Out Stranger’s Birthday Candles — His Reaction Goes Viral50-Year-Old Woman Goes to Pick Up Her Birthday Cake – Finds a Surprising Note That Brings Her to TearsLittle Boy Invites Friends to His Birthday Party, but No One Attends – Then a Cop Shows Up and Asks Him to Get in the Car

Woman Complains About Her Love Life to Friend - A Stranger Listening to Her Conversation Decides to Write Her a Note

Twenty one-year-old Karyn Vallantyne called her friend on February 11th hoping to get some advice and encouraging words as she complained about her love life. However, it was not the words of her friend that helped her, but a note from a stranger.Alone on Valentine’s DayKaryn, who works at a recruitment agency, chatted with her 23-year-old friend Grace over the phone as Karyn commuted home. Just days before Valentine’s Day, she admitted to her friend that she was going to give up on love after so many failed attempts."I was telling Grace about my love life and how I've been treated badly in the past and I'm basically giving up and losing hope,” Karyn said. "I wasn't crying but I was definitely down.”The idea of spending another Valentine’s Day alone caused Karyn to get emotional on the train.I was sick of being on my own on Valentine's. It makes you think there's something wrong with you. I have always been a very romance-orientated person. If I'm not in a relationship I think less of myself.Karyn VallantyneMessage From Her Guardian AngelsAs Karyn talked on her phone, a stranger dropped a note into her lap. At first, Karyn expected the note to tell her to stop complaining. Instead, the message was much kinder."I wasn't expecting it, I thought it was going to say 'shut up' or something, I didn't expect it to be remotely kind,” Karyn said.Written on a torn piece of newspaper were the words “You’re worth more. Move on.”“I'd been people watching so I'd seen she was doing the crossword, she ripped the corner of the page off to write on it,” Karyn said. When I read it, I just burst into tears. I looked up to see if I could see her. There were loads of other people looking at me and I got really embarrassed.Karyn VallantyneThe note brought Karyn to tears, and she has vowed to track down the writer, who she believes was sent by guardian angels.”I'm quite spiritual and it made me think a lot about my guardian angels, they knew I needed a sign but they couldn't do it,” Karyn said.A Jane Doe Unfortunately, with no name and no other information, Karyn is struggling to identify the stranger.“I hope I manage to find her, it would be lovely,” Karyn said. “I'd like to send her some flowers or something to let her know I've acknowledged and appreciate what she wrote.”Though Karyn had sought out the words of her friend, hearing this advice from a stranger was more effective."It was like a slap in the face. I should listen to my friend's advice but I have to learn the hard way, it was a massive wake up call,” Karyn said. You Are LovedSometimes, we need a stranger to remind us that whether we are in a relationship or not, we are loved. The passerby on Karyn’s commute overheard someone questioning her worth, and instead of ignoring these worries, the stranger made sure Karyn knew she was deserving.Even a short, anonymous note can help remind someone of their worth, so make sure to tell the ones you love that you love them and strangers on a train that they are loved, too.More from Goalcast:50-Year-Old Woman Goes to Pick Up Her Birthday Cake – Finds a Surprising Note That Brings Her to TearsExhausted Dad of 4 Doesn’t Notice a Stranger Watching Him Closely at Work – Is Shocked When He Finds This Note on a BillWoman Shops at Walmart With Her Family – Finds an Envelope on the Floor With a Note From a Stranger

Red-Skinned Newborn Baby Is Abandoned by Her Parents - But a Couple Who Can't Have Their Own Kids Take Her In

Not everyone is born with the same advantages in life, but we all deserve to be here. That’s something a woman named Mui Thomas took time to realize growing up after abandonment, bullying, and mental health issues took a toll.Thankfully, her inspiring story is now motivating others around the world to accept themselves for who they are, as well.A Rare ConditionThomas was born in Hong Kong with a rare genetic condition known as harlequin ichthyosis. That means her skin is thicker than usual and is dry and flaky. As a result, she is prone to infection, and her skin has a red hue. Her bones are brittle, and she needs to watch her sun exposure. When she was born, her parents abandoned her. A couple named Tina and Rog Thomas came across her when she was a year and a half old, and even though they were told Mui didn’t have long to live, they decided to foster her. “We wanted to give her a family life in the time she had,” Tina explained to CNN.The couple could not have a child of their own, and they thought their time with Mui was temporary. So, when she began thriving at the age of three, they decided to adopt her. They learned to care for the condition and bathed her twice daily for two hours each bath. They also equipped her with a backpack filled with three or four creams that she needed to use to prevent her skin from drying out.Through it all, Mui continued to grow and is currently the fourth-oldest person alive with harlequin ichthyosis at the age of 30.Dealing With BulliesGrowing up, things weren’t easy for Mui. At first, she wasn’t aware she was different than other kids. When she began secondary school, however, things changed drastically. At school, she needed an educational assistant, which made it hard for her to make friends.Online things were even worse as a result of cyberbullying, and Mui considered taking her own life. She stopped taking her medication or applying her creams, she refused to bathe, and she considered jumping off the balcony of her home.“They’d say things like ‘You shouldn’t have been born’ – and very personal things that only people who knew me would know,” she told CNN.“It made me very wary of everybody. Even when people tried to be nice, I didn’t repay it. I didn’t trust them.”After about 10 months, the police became involved, and the bully was outed. He turned out to be someone Mui thought was her friend.Turning Things AroundBy the time Mui left school, it was with no qualifications due to the things she’d endured. Still, she wanted to make a difference and speak out about her experiences. Eventually, she found a job working with people with special needs and began booking public speaking engagements. On stage, she speaks about living with a visible difference and the dangers of cyberbullying.Today, people contact her via her online platform, The Girl Behind the Face.“It’s difficult for her because she spent so long denying it,” her father told CNN. “The more she confronts it, the more she is aware of it – it will build confidence.”On the weekends, meanwhile, Mui has unlocked another passion: rugby. The sport is dear to her father, and she wanted to get involved. She knew playing wasn’t an option, so she became a ref for kids’ matches instead.“Being in the kit allows me that feeling that I've always dreamed of, fitting in with everybody else because if people shout at me on a rugby field, it's one of the coaches complaining about a decision that I've made,” she shared in a TEDx Talk. Now, Mui has a whole new outlook on life.“Meet people, make connections, have a really strong support network, and also be open,” she shared online. “If you're struggling, it's okay to speak out and smile — smiling helps a lot.”Embracing Our DifferencesIt isn’t our job to judge others for how they look or live their lives. Our job is to love. This story reminds us of that and of the importance of treating others with kindness and respect no matter where we are, in person or online. Words matter.More importantly, this story reminds us that while we cannot control the actions of others, we can choose how to view ourselves and tell our story. So the next time you’re feeling down or overwhelmed, remember The Girl Behind the Face and how she used her experiences to inspire an entire world.More from Goalcast:Woman With Rare Skin Condition Is Called a “Monster” – But the Man She Met Online Ignored Haters and Married Her AnywaysTwo Brothers With Rare Heart Condition Die 3 Years Apart — 2 Hours Later, One of Them Wakes UpWoman Diagnosed With Rare Genetic Disorder Wonders if She’ll Ever Find Love – Then One Man Steps in With the Answer

Dying Veteran Asks His Daughter to Do This One Thing for When Hes Gone - What She Did Instead Shocked Him

When her father was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer, Stacy Dombalis knew the Marine Captain veteran was living on borrowed time. After a series of "hard discussions" with her dying father, including what he wanted for his funeral service, Stacy Dombalis had a bright idea for how to honor her father's wishes...while he was still alive. When his daughter told him to a expect a phone call from a friend out on his patio, the former Marine Captain Marsh had no idea what was in store for him. Stacy helped her elderly father, who has trouble walking, to sit in a rocking chair outside for some fresh air, while he waited for a call...little did he know what was in store for him.She Tricked Him Into Thinking He Was Waiting for a Phone CallPhoto by Brett SaylesStacy's plan all started when her father was adamant about having bagpipes play at his funeral service, when he was gone. "He said, 'Of course, I want bagpipes,'" said Stacy Dombalis, but the request kept her wheels turning. "And I couldn't sleep that night thinking about that. I thought, 'Gosh, what can I do that we could have some happiness and enjoy something instead of all these sad and hard talks?' And I thought, 'I wonder if I could find a bagpiper.'"Stacy shared the instrument has such a meaningful tenor for her father, because it reminds him of his years in the service and those who sacrificed their lives on the frontlines for their country. This devoted daughter searched high and low on a vendor marketplace for a musician who could serenade her father the very next day! It was the talented, Michael Crawley — a musician whose entire family has played the bagpipes for generations — who answered the call.As the bag pipes start to play, the former Marine Captain veteran gets visibly emotional and but it's what he did next that shocked everyone.Richard Marsh is so moved by the music, he musters up the strength to stand up on his own two feet, and salute his fellow man. Stacy commented on how remarkable of a feat this was, as her father has great difficulty moving without assistance. But this time he did it all on his own."When he saw Michael come around the corner is his full gear with the bagpipes that was when my dad stood up at attention, just beautiful to watch."Stacy DombalisThis isn't the first time Stacy's surprised her father with a thoughtful gesture in his final days. "We've done some fun things. We took him to a baseball game and surprised him with that."Former Captain Marsh is a Los Angeles Dodger's fan, and the veteran was able to catch a game with his daughter and grandchildren. Stacy documented the sweet family outing in a quick video clip, which showcases Richard decked out in full Dodger's gear, ready for a day of fun. However because of the significant role his military background played in his life, it's clear Stacy outdid herself with her latest gesture, making it the most memorable yet. It's true when they say 'every act creates a ripple effect,' because Stacy's surprise gesture ended up affecting more than just her father that day.The Gift That Keeps on GivingMichael Crawley was the bagpipe musician who showed up to Captain Marsh's home, to play him those emotional scales one last time. The Scottish Highland Bagpipes, are a notoriously difficult instrument to master...one of the most difficult instruments in the world, in fact. Playing the bagpipes require the musician to skillfully hone a complicated finger technique while overcoming the strict physical demands from the pipes in order to be able to play the instrument. Finding a bagpipe player was a challenge in and of itself for Stacy, but thankfully she connected with Crawley who was more than familiar with the instrument. The bagpipes were a tradition in Michael Crawley's family. For generations these skills were passed down from his grandfather to his father to him. When Stacy reached out and shared her story, Crawley did not hesitate to clear his schedule in order to give Captain Marsh a moving performance, he would never forget."It was [incredible] to have a man of his military background stand up and salute me when obviously it should be every one of us, saluting him."Michael CrawleyAs it turns out, Michael lost his father and teacher at a young age and when he plays today he feels closer than ever to his father, "every time I play I honor my dad." Crawley dressed in the full traditional bagpiper uniform — kilt, feather bonnet and all. His selfless act of kindness would have certainly made his father proud. "I play the bagpipes that my dad played. When I get to connect with people on that level it 100% is me paying tribute to my dad."Stacy’s Public Message Is a Reminder to Cherish Your Loved OnesStacy Dombalis explains that her father, who's now limited in his ability to speak and wasn't in a condition to participate in an interview, has made the choice to forgo formal medical treatment. Instead, he's chosen to spend his final days near the water at a residence in Mexico. She felt it was important to create a memorable farewell that would stay etched in both of their hearts."I feel like we're all so busy in our lives and we take our families for granted. Until we don't have them. I've been so blessed to not have my dad taken away from [me], unexpectedly. This is something we know is going to happen. We've had great talks. Good hugs."Stacy's story resonates as a powerful reminder that life is fragile, and our loved ones are invaluable treasures. We often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily routines, taking our family for granted. Stacy's father's deliberate decision to create precious memories together in his final days highlights the importance of cherishing every moment with those who matter most. Whether it's a heartfelt conversation, a warm hug, or a shared smile, these simple gestures can make a world of difference in our relationships. So, let Stacy's message inspire us to seize the opportunity to show our love and appreciation for our loved ones, making each day count as a heartfelt gift.Stacy's story reminds us, even though tomorrow is an unknown future, today is a beautiful gift to be enjoyed. Young Boy Walks Up to Keanu Reeves and Makes One Simple Request His Response Makes Headlines

Keanu Reeves is one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Pretty much everywhere he goes, people recognize him from films like The Matrix or John Wick, so you can imagine he has plenty of fans stopping him on a daily basis. That hasn’t stopped the actor from displaying amazing acts of kindness, though. From treating the homeless the way he’d want to be treated to stopping by weddings after an impromptu invite, Reeves always makes time for others.Still, his generosity took one family in Houston by surprise recently when they had a memorable encounter with the actor.Going FishingA woman named Annette Cruz has a particular hobby: fishing. Only this type of fishing doesn’t involve fishing for aquatic animals, but for Hollywood celebrities. When they come to town, she tries to meet them and has selfies with stars like Snoop Dogg and Rob Schneider as a result. When Cruz and her grandsons, Caleb and Elijah, found out that Reeves would be in town to play at the House of Blues with his band, Dog Star, they decided to wait outside with some memorabilia and try to meet the man. When he came out, the young boys didn’t quite recognize him.“He like came out, and I didn’t expect his hair to be like a little white,” Caleb told KHOU11. “I knew his hair was long but I didn’t expect it to be white.”Once the boys overcame their shock at seeing the actor in real life, they asked him for a signature and a selfie. But then Elijah had one other request.A Simple QuestionElijah had been holding a football and he wanted to know if Reeves would play catch with him.“I asked him the first time and he kind of mumbled something. But I didn’t hear him, so I asked him again, and he said ‘Yeah come on lets go,’” the nine-year-old recounted. For the next 30 seconds or so, Elijah and Reeves had a good old-fashioned game of catch right there on the street as fans looked on.“I was really nervous because I was playing catch with a famous superstar,” Elijah admitted.Still, the kid revealed it was the best 30 seconds of his life: “The top moment.” That was especially true when Reeves complimented him on his spiral throw.Meanwhile, it wasn’t lost on the crowd that the actor had once played a retired football player turned FBI agent for the 1991 movie Point Break.“This is the football I threw with him. I’m keeping it forever and ever,” Elijah showed the reporters. In other words, he's a newly minted Keanu Reeves fan for life.Remembering What MattersOften in life, we’re in such a rush that we forget to stop and take in the moment. Hearing this story about Reeves, one of the most famous and probably busiest guys around, stopping to play catch with a kid is a good reminder that we should all stop a little more.Playing catch only took 30 seconds out of Reeves’ day, but it meant the world to this kid. If he can stop and toss a football around, we can probably take a few minutes out of our day to play with our own kids, call our parents, or check in with a loved one.Time is the most precious gift any of us can give or receive. Reeves understands this. His kindness superpower is inspiring all of us to stop and take some time out of our own busy schedules to remember the things and the people who truly matter.More from Goalcast:Young Boy Walks Up to Keanu Reeves and Bombards Him With Questions – His Response Makes HeadlinesKeanu Reeves Surprises Entire Crew With $7000 Personalized Rolex Watches To Express His GratitudeMatthew Perry Was Shockingly Wrong—Why We’re Lucky Keanu Reeves Walks Among Us

Woman Shops at Walmart With Her Family - Finds an Envelope on the Floor With a Note From a Stranger

You've probably seen those heartwarming movie scenes where someone stumbles upon an unexpected treasure. But what if I told you that such magical moments aren't just the stuff of cinematic dreams? They happen in real life too, just like the enchanting episode experienced by a family in Charlotte, North Carolina during a routine shopping trip. The Note One Family Found on the Floor at WalmartPicture this: Julia Stultz, accompanied by her husband and son, was leisurely strolling through the aisles of a local Walmart. It was an ordinary day with ordinary tasks, until their mundane grocery run took an extraordinary turn, right in the heart of the children's clothing section.Julia's son, with his sharp young eyes, spotted something unusual on the floor. An envelope lay there, innocuously waiting for someone to discover its contents. Naturally, curiosity got the better of them, and they bent down to pick it up.As Julia turned the envelope over, she discovered a simple yet profoundly heartwarming message, "With Love, Amen." But this was no ordinary love note; it was a beacon of benevolence. The flip side of the envelope revealed another message: "If this card has found you, open it – it's yours. God is continually blessing you."With bated breath and a sense of anticipation, Julia opened the envelope. Inside, she found a lovely card, beautifully adorned. But the real surprise lay nestled within its folds. Five crisp $20 bills tumbled out, like a gift from the universe itself. But money was just the beginning. The card held a message that touched their hearts and souls. It read, "May this gift bring you a little peace today. One day, please pay it forward. May the blessings of God be on you always!" The sign-off was beautifully simple, just "Your friend."How a Stranger’s Note Affected a WomanThis act of unexpected kindness left Julia in awe. She longed to express her gratitude to this mysterious benefactor, this "friend." She turned to FOX 46 to share her story and expressed her heartfelt intention to pay this act of kindness forward, a testament to the enduring power of benevolence.News of this heartwarming gesture, like wildfire, quickly spread. FOX 46 decided to gauge the reactions of other Walmart shoppers, revealing a poignant truth about the state of the world today.Lamar McLaughlin, a fellow shopper, made a poignant remark. "I think people should be more kind to each other," he said. "It's not hard to do, but it's uncommon nowadays." Indeed, acts of kindness, once a common thread in the tapestry of our lives, have become a rare and treasured commodity.Another shopper, Akili Omari, was deeply moved by this story of unexpected compassion. He declared, "I've always wanted that there was stuff in this world, and I always said, if I had a chance to pay it forward, I would absolutely do it." These words echo the sentiment of countless individuals who long to rekindle the flame of kindness in a world that often feels divided. How One Anonymous Act of Kindness Is Inspiring StrangersInspired by the story of this anonymous act of benevolence, Akili now has plans to initiate his own chain of kindness. The story resonated with his desire to make the world a better place, reminding us that one act of goodwill has the power to inspire countless others. The impact of this touching narrative wasn't limited to the Walmart aisles; it reached the corners of the internet, touching the hearts of many. One online user commented, "Good to hear nice things in this sad & crazy world. God bless the person who did that. Praying the lady who got it was able to pay it forward. You never know when someone needs it."Discovering such an unexpected and generous gift during a typical shopping trip feels like a scene right out of a heartwarming movie. It's a powerful reminder that acts of kindness, whether grand or small, can be seamlessly woven into the fabric of our everyday lives. The benevolent "friend" who left that envelope in the children's clothing section has shown that in a world that sometimes seems indifferent, compassion and generosity still flourish. So, if you ever find yourself on the receiving end of such kindness, don't forget the message inscribed on the card, "One day, please pay it forward." Because, as this story proves, the impact of a single act of kindness can create ripples that extend far beyond what we can imagine.More from Goalcast:Stranger Refuses to Sit Beside Family Who Had Children With Disabilities – Later, a Waiter Brings Them a Note From HimStranger Refuses to Sit Beside Family Who Had Children With Disabilities – Later, a Waiter Brings Them a Note From HimFlight Attendant Notices Grieving Mom and Hands Her a Note – Little Did She Know He Would Become Her Solace

Men Play Cruel Prank on 8-Year-Old at Target - Little Did He Know There Was Much More to Come

It’s a sad truth that mean people do exist in the world. Unfortunately, an eight-year-old boy and his father experienced such mean people firsthand when they were shopping at a Target in Southington, Connecticut. But while the incident got them down, the kindness and goodness of strangers rallying around them quickly picked them up.A Chance EncounterWhen Gabe and T.J. Lyles II went on a quick shopping trip this past summer, they were surprised when three men approached them. The strangers claimed to be from the good-deeds YouTube channel MrBeast, who is known for helping out those in need. The men reportedly wanted to know if Gabe would be interested in a fill-your-cart challenge. Why? Because he has bilateral severe-to-profound hearing loss.“Whatever was in the cart, they would pay for,” Lyles explained to the Washington Post of the 30-second challenge. “My little guy really wanted to do that.”According to Lyles, his son “lit up like a Christmas tree” because he’s a huge fan of MrBeast. “One of his main dreams is to be a YouTuber, and he wants to be famous. He thought this was his chance.”A Challenge Gone WrongPhoto by Shabaz Usmani on UnsplashAs the men were detailing the rules of the challenge, Lyles said Gabe leaned in closer to hear and explained he is partially deaf. “That’s exactly who we're looking for,” the father recalls one man saying.Lyles was skeptical, especially when a Target employee couldn’t confirm the legitimacy of the challenge. But he agreed to do the challenge with his son in the end. Then, as they were blindfolded and filling their carts up with items, his heart sank as he heard the men run away.“At that point, I’m taking off my blindfold, and I now have to tell my son that he got pranked,” Lyles recalled. The men weren’t a part of MrBeast, and the whole thing was a fake. “He’s in tears, and I’m trying to calm him down,” Lyles continued. “He’s a very loving kid. He wants to see the best in people.”Lyles was also upset, and he wasn’t about to just forget about what happened. He went on social media to share the story and his anger about how those random men thought it was funny to target his son.“I do not know what type of sick individual targets kids with special needs,” he wrote in the post. “I understand as an adult, I should have known better, but honestly, I did not think someone would be as disgusting to stoop that low.”A Community RespondsMany were appalled to hear what happened to this little boy, and they wanted to help. (Even MrBeast is trying to track Gabe down.) The chair of the town’s Commission for Persons with Disabilities reached out to get the full story, then summoned her commission to allocate funds for Gabe. They also went to Target, and the store agreed to match their $200 contribution to give the kid a real shopping spree.“I cried on the spot,” Lyles said about the $400 gift when he found out. “I could not believe that they would do something that nice.”Organizers arranged for the shopping spree right away, even though it was a long weekend. Gabe filled his cart with Nerf guns and water toys.“Thank you so much, everybody, for making my dream come true,” Gabe said in a Facebook video from the Target parking lot, right after the shopping spree. “Thank you all who did this for me.”“I’m so happy it ended this way for him,” the father added. “We hope it inspires people to do nice things for others.”Kindness Always WinsIt’s awful to think about how sad Gabe felt and how angry and hopeless his father probably was after these men tricked them. But it’s also heartwarming to see how others responded and how in the end, Gabe learned that there are more good people than bad out there in this world. It’s a reminder to all of us to always lead with kindness, no matter what we might be going through in our own lives. Smile at others and make them feel appreciated and seen. And do nice things for others, especially when they least expect it.Because at the end of the day, we don’t know what other people are going through either. But by leading with compassion and kindness, we can at least do our part to make sure the world is a nicer place.More from Goalcast:Teen’s Crush Agrees to Be His Date to the Dance, Then Plays a Cruel Prank on Him – So He Gets the Best RevengeTikTok Prankster Unexpectedly Befriends Homeless Man, Helps Him Get Out Of DebtEmployee Blocks Teen From Riding Ferris Wheel Because of Her “Disability” – So Her Stunned Friends Take Action

Boy With Autism Walks Into Restaurant to Pick Up a Menu - When He Doesnt Come Back, His Dad Finds Out Whats Going On

Compassion and kindness can mean a lot in life, especially to someone who may be facing things we don’t know about. One small act can be uplifting and inspiring, not to mention meaningful to the person on the receiving end of that act. That’s why one mother had to share an amazing story about her son who has autism and the kind restaurant worker who decided to give him a free meal one day.Practicing a Big Life StepFacebook/Sandra BlockOne day, Pat Long was coaching his son, Owen Block, to ask for a takeout menu at Sun Restaurant in Williamsville, New York. They practiced several times in the car, and then the father sent his son in solo to try and complete the task. But then he didn’t come back out, and the father grew concerned.“My husband is waiting... and waiting... and waiting...,” recalled Owen’s mom, Sandra Block, in a Facebook post. “So he finally decides to see what's going on. What's going on is that my son is at a table, eating.”According to Sandra, Owen had gone inside and asked for a take-out menu. But he also told the hostess he was hungry.Feeding Someone in NeedThe hostess was Aye Thein, the Sun Restaurant partner and manager. She didn’t know Owen had autism; she just saw a guy who was hungry and needed a meal.“So she sat him down and asked what he wanted to eat, and he answered: ‘beef,’” Sandra continued. “She told her cooks, ‘Hurry, this boy is very hungry,’ and made him a beef curry with rice. She said that he was so sweet she was planning on letting him eat for free.”“After he said ‘I’m hungry,’ and when I looked at his face, from my heart, I said, ‘Oh, he’s a very special boy to me,’” Thein later told WIVB4 News.“That is just so uncommonly kind. Like how often can you imagine someone — I’m going to cry thinking about it! That’s just so awesome to me,” the mother told the outlet, tearing up.Spreading the Word… and KindnessSandra’s post quickly went viral on social media, with thousands liking and sharing the sweet story. Several news outlets also picked it up and helped to further spread this story of a sweet gesture that reminded two parents there are kind and thoughtful people out there in the world.According to Thein, she practices something called “metta.” The Burmese-Buddhist practice is about living with a lack of ill-will and serves as a spiritual antidote to things like fear and hatred.“Metta means loving and kindness to everybody,” Thein explained to the news outlet.Leading With KindnessAs a parent who spent all of her son’s life worrying about him and his autism, Sandra was incredibly moved by one kind gesture. She wasn’t the only one, which is why this tale of kindness has traveled so far and wide. It’s a really nice reminder for all of us to lead with kindness in our own lives and to stop and look at any given situation with a full heart rather than one clouded by all of the things we have going on in our own daily grinds. We may not be able to offer free meals to everyone, but we can certainly offer free smiles, kind words of encouragement, or greetings in which we genuinely want to know how the other person is doing. Leading with kindness and grace in any situation is always a happier and healthier way to live and can inspire others to do the same. And, as it turns out, it can also be the thing that unknowingly makes or breaks someone else’s day.More from Goalcast:Autistic Teen Bullied and Beaten by Peers — So a Group of Strangers Gave Him a “Dream Day” He’d Never ForgetSchool Janitor Takes Boy With Autism Under His Wing – So His Mom Raises $35,000 in Response10-Year-Old Girl With Autism Bullied At School — Turns Out Her IQ Is Higher Than Einstein’s
