At the age of eight, Kurt’s happy childhood was startled when his parents divorced. He found solace in music after his uncle gave him a guitar as a birthday gift at the age of 14.
In 1987, he formed his band Nirvana, which in spite of releasing only three full-length albums, became a total success and had a massive influence on modern rock-and-roll culture and defining the Grunge sub-genre.
The hit song Smells Like Teen Spirit represented a defining moment in musical history, and literally transformed Kurt Cobain into a symbol of his generation. From that point on, the pressure appeared to be unbearable for the artist. Struggling with heroin addiction, Kurt sought serenity in fatherhood, but ended up tragically taking his own life on April 5, 1994, in his Lake Washington home.
