Oprah's Quotes for Attracting What You Want in Life by Changing Your Mindset

Oprah Winfrey once said that when she was considering applying for a role in the movie The Color Purple, she developed a strategy to allow what she wanted to come to her.

The moments that preceded her audition, she raised her hands in tears and sang: “I surrender all. I surrender all.” Releasing the need for control was just one of her many techniques for attracting what she wanted in life.

If you have ever read her story, you may know that Oprah endured terrible hardships and trauma as a young girl. Nonetheless, a spark of hope never ceased to live inside of her, and she always envisioned herself being on stage, talking to a room full of people. Step by step, moment by moment, Oprah became the most influential woman in modern history, changing the heartbeat of humanity forever.

Today we look up to her because it is easy to relate to her and see a bit of ourselves in the lens of her life. We see hope in the midst of havoc, we see liberation in the midst of loneliness, and we see potential in the midst of pain. These are the lessons she has given us as we go through our own life experience.

Here are five of Oprah’s life lessons below so you will also have hope that no matter where your life is right now, reinvention can lead to a completely different path of attraction.

“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough. Your true passion should feel like breathing; it's that natural.”

In this quote Oprah teaches us the power of gratitude. Gratitude is a deep and profound appreciation of what you currently have. If you have an old car that still cranks, simply imagine your life without this car for just one day. When you can see how your life would be in the absence of what you have, then you experience gratitude.

Be committed to your passion and to feeling gratitude; and you will attract more.

“Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.”

The second lesson Oprah teaches is to do the thing you think you cannot do. This could be as easy as running instead of walking, saying “I love you” when you are afraid of the other person’s response, or quitting the job you hate, even though you are afraid of where money will come from next.

Taking chances creates a bridge to something new.

“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.”

Your breath is your life force. I know it’s easy to take for granted but the oxygen you take in is filled with instructions to your inner intelligence. When you “let go” you are simply allowing for a gentle release of resistance to living in the moment.

You have no guarantee of a future and the past is gone.

It’s time now to let go of the old and create the new.

“Turn your wounds into wisdom.”

This one is perhaps the most important lesson in this article. Wounds are wisdom. Turning what has hurt you into what lifts you up is a sign that you are a master at your life. When you want to reinvent your life or create a new experience that feels better, you must look at every wound as if it is the greatest teacher you have ever met.

Every scar is a story.

“The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth really will set you free.”

The thing you fear has no power. To manifest what you want you must find the fear and then find what the fear attaches to immediately. If you want to be a movie star or an entrepreneur, you must not be afraid of people not liking your work. If you want to be a fireman, you certainly cannot fear fire.

Manifesting what you want, is reinventing your life on your terms.
