Step-Siblings Rescue 5-Year-Old Brother Starved And Locked In 'Harry Potter' Room

In one of the most horrifying cases in recent memory, a woman in Spring, Texas, severely neglected her stepson by locking him away and not giving him any food. But by some miracle, the boy's step-siblings managed to defy their guardians and come to the rescue.

His siblings saved his life

The family called the tiny closet 5-year-old Jordan was locked up in the "Harry Potter room" because it was under the stairs and had nails sticking out on all sides.

When the boy's step-brother, Cody, opened the door one day — to the fury of his guardians — he was horrified not just at the conditions Jordan was living in, but the shocking state of the boy's health.

"His face was all caved in, bruises all over, marks on him. His mouth was foaming. I have never in my life seen anything as bad as that," Cody told Sun Online. "If we hadn't got him out that day I don't think he would have survived."

Cody quickly handed his step-brother — who was in only a diaper and covered in bumps and bruises — to another one of his siblings, Allison, and they called the police.

"It was like I wasn't holding anything -- he was so light -- it wasn't like holding a kid at all," Allison said. "He was so, so white and his cheeks were sunken and he smelled terrible -- it was just awful."

The boy was starved and neglected

Police arrived and arrested Tammi Bleimeyer, 37, as well as her husband Bradley. The Bleimeyers had prohibited Jordan from eating meals with the rest of the family, and only gave him a slice of bread to eat if he was lucky — they took the food away if he didn't eat it fast enough.

Jordan was also allegedly drugged by his father to keep him quiet when guests arrived. He was also beaten and even tased, Cody told police.

When Jordan was finally rescued thanks to his siblings, doctors compared the boy's state to that of a survivor of the Nazi death camps.

Irreparable harm

At the sentencing hearing in 2018, two of Tammi Bleimeyer's biological sons took the stand to call out the irreparable harm their mother's actions had on the entire family.

"It's no mystery why we're all here,' one of the sons said in a prepared statement, according to The Daily Mail. "You made a big mistake, and ultimately have to face the consequences."

"I'm up here to ask a rhetorical question of how, how could you put your children through all that? The people who should be your pride and joy."

"You caused me feelings of sadness, anger, confusion, and emptiness. I can't say that I'll ever be the same emotionally because of this."

The judge ruled that the Bleimeyers were guilty of injury to a child by omission and sentenced to 28 years and 15 years in prison respectively.

As for Jordan, he was placed in the custody of his biological mother and the rest of the children were placed in Child Protective Services custody.

A tremendous act of bravery

It is seriously hard to believe how any one could do something so horrific to another human being, especially one so young and innocent as Jordan. But thankfully, the story doesn't have a tragic ending as the boy was saved thanks to the bravery of his step-siblings.

Racism Quotes

Racism is considered the marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges another race. The term is applied in many areas of a society that perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race or strengthen racial inequalities in education, health care, income, and civil rights.

Ever since the 20th century, the concept of biological race is considered a cultural invention that has no scientific basis. The progress over the past half-century has been impressive, but the nation still has a long way to go to reach true racial equality.
