Check Out the Banksy-Style Artist Who Replaces Broken Sidewalks With Gorgeous Art

Walking past a colourful street art or an art installation is a sight for sore eyes. Art that stands out from the monotonous nature of the rest of the scene often brings joy to the viewers. This Lyon-based anonymous artist is doing just that in the streets of Europe. Mosaic Tiles on City StreetsBraintoEm Emem is a Lyon-based street artist who remains anonymous. His street name is Em Emem and he is renowned world-wide for his art. He is called the bitumen mender, who also repairs any holes in the sidewalks, beautifies storm drain covers with his mosaic of tiles. The street artist has been active since 2016, and has been decorating several imperfections in a city life bringing a new meaning to restoration. He has invented this urban art and calls it "flaking". This comes from the French word flaque, which means puddle or a patch. RELATED: Slogans Meant to Spread Hate – How One Street Artist Uses Them to Bring People TogetherHe has worked on cracked city walls, uneven potholes on weared city roads flaking them with his colours and patterns. The old alley that he once worked in, later moved and "hypnotised" him into taking up this art. That alley housed his first workshop, also becoming his first canvas. The Guardian"One day, I patched up the entrance to the driveway leading at my workshop...I made her little cloured bandages with ceramic scraps at my disposal," said Ememem in an interview with Brainto. Colorful Bandaids BraintoThe child in us rejoices looking at color. Hand a kid a colourful item or mend a wound with a colourful bandaid, have the same charm. Em Emem just made this larger for all the structural wounds in the city. The vibrant repairs started with his home in Lyon, later spreading to the streets of Paris, Norway, Scotland, Germany, Italy, and so on. Brainto"A huge pothole greeted me every morning. So before wallowing in it, I one day grabbed a trowel and set about making him a custom bandage," narrated Ememem. "A high-fashion coat grafted onto the asphalt. The first 'flack' was born and Ememem with it. Suddenly, I understood that I was going to spend the rest of my life doing another one, and then another, and another"...He was a visual artist before becoming the pavement surgeon working with Mosaics, ceramics and designs. One unexpected wound and this man became a poet, with a drive to heal and revive many such scars. This article in 2018 protected his anonymity yet made his art rise to fame. The reporter rightly wrote: "A pothole disappears, tiles instead, a nice day. Thanks to Ememem, how many of the people of Lyon have found that life isn't so disgusting after all?". High-Tech Windows: The Extraordinary New Technology That Could Turn All Windows Into Solar Panels

Imagine contributing to energy efficiency through windows?Literally.Picture skyscrapers in big cities with thousands of window panes that would not only let in light but also charge the entire building. The technological feat is now being executed in major metropolitan cities across Europe. RELATED: Hero of the Week: David Attenborough Dedicates His Last Years to Saving the PlanetWhen the initiative was conceived in 2014 by Michigan State University, the goal was 100% transparency for solar panels. By 2020, several scientists from various European nations made further modifications to the idea and helped achieve their goal. Cell Phone Screen Sized Solar PanelWEFThe use of glass — From bulletproof to simple scratch-proof, \ mega structures to hand-held devices is abundant. In the United States alone, there is an estimated 7 billion square meters of glass used on surfaces. If science could replace this with power-saving and power-generating solar panels, then that is a leap toward a sustainable future. Why don't we see many conventional solar panels in our daily lives? Conventional solar panels are expensive and sturdy which would thrive in vast open fields rather than on high-rise buildings. Newly developed solar panels are capable of reaching these big cities, more scenarios, and more people.WEF"You could turn nearly every surface of a building or landscape into a solar array and generate power right where you use it without even knowing that it's there," explains solar glass engineer, Richard Lunt to World Economic Forum.Transparent solar panels replacing glass could also lift the burden on the fossil fuel industry. If properly executed, then this fossil fuel industry that can harm the world while powering it can peacefully retire. What the future looks like through the Solar Panel WindowCopenhagen International School started using 12,000 of these lightly-hued but transparent solar panels instead of window glass. They produce 200 megawatts of energy every year. That is approximately more than half of what the whole school building consumes in a year. This means an electricity bill that is cut down by more than 50%. SolarGapsMichigan State University's very own Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building was modernized with these panels. They modified the roof of the building's entryway by adding 100 square feet of these futuristic solar panels. This single installation alone can fully power the lighting in their atrium. What is stopping the scientists and the solar power industry to make this commercial?A 100% transparent, see-through solar panel might replace a window glass, however, it might not be as efficient as the non-transparent conventional one. Scientists are still working on making the panels more efficient while being transparent. This is a hurdle they have been trying to fix which might change our path to a greener future. Source: PhyseeThe Diplomatic PushWorld Economic Forum hosted a series of Sustainable Development Impact Meetings which brought together several business leaders, innovators, scientists, policymakers, and many energy-related organizations to speed up the process. These panels made it to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) list which is planned to be achieved by the year 2030. During times of misfortune, people are grappled by the tentacles of desperation into doing some surprising things. But not all desperate measures are beyond possible empathy and kindness. In no way should we all stand by wrongdoers, but with the hope of redemption, we can give them a second chance. This story of two thieves who stole from a little kid ends up brighter than we can imagine, as they embraced life's second chance. How a Family Wanted to Cheer Up Their Little BoyFacebookTimothy Vick Sr., his wife Angel Vick, and their kids were from Delaware. Timothy's youngest son Timmy was only five years old when this incident happened. Little Timmy wasn't waiting for a toy that would settle his tantrums. He was waiting for something that would help him hold on to hope. Timmy is on the autism spectrum and has a sensory processing disorder. To top this off, doctors found a non-cancerous tumor in his brain. This tumor requires expensive invasive surgery to be removed, putting the family in financial struggles. The Vicks family are fans of professional wrestling and the father trades replica belts as a hobby. The family saved up a lot of money, most of which went to the surgery that was upcoming. RELATED: Stranger Catches Homeless Man Sleeping On His Office Porch – Instead of Kicking Him Out, He Decides to Change His LifeTo help cheer little Timmy up they saved some of this money to get a close replica of the WWE Championship belt.Sergio Moreira, the belt designer offered to make the belt for free after he heard Timmy's story. "It'll be as close to the original belt that he sees on TV every day than any other belt he could buy in the market," assured Sergio. The Vicks family shipped the belt to Sergio for him to make the replica like modifications. Sergio receives the package, but two porch pirates steal it from him. Why Two Thieves Stole a Little Boy’s PackageSergio's Ring doorbell camera captured two women stealing two packages from his porch. "They walked away like it was no big deal, they acted as if they have done this a million times before which makes me sad to think of how many other people they have ripped off," wrote Angel, on her Facebook post, after they heard about the theft. "They have no idea who they are stealing from at all!!," her post continued. Angel uploaded the video from Sergei's camera and asked the people to help find the two women. Many local media channels picked this story, and many people stood by the family condemning the theft."You stole that from him. You broke a child's heart," Sergio told a local news station. The video and the post reached the two women, and they showed up at Sergio's house with the packages and a four page heartfelt apology letter for the family. How Two Thieves Redeemed ThemselvesRing camera footageBoth the women were ashamed and regretted their actions as they stood before Sergio. They profusely apologized, and explained their circumstances to him. "We are sorry for taking your stuff. Never in a million years would I have stolen from a sick five-year-old and am ashamed of what I did," read the note. Sergio recalled the incident. "They said they were homeless drug addicts and thought they could make a few extra dollars off whatever was in the boxes."RELATED: Woman Is Diagnosed With a Brain Tumor – So Her Son Decides to Do Something Unexpected for 2 YearsSergio was empathetic. He promised to not press any charges if the women get the required help to deal with their addiction. "I don't see any other way to do it. "We never wanted to steal a child's hope. After seeing ourselves looking like low lives on the news, we have both decided to get clean and sober."For our little Timmy, he was happy at home with his WWE Championship belt ahead of the surgery. Young Boy Breaks His Bicycle —So Two Kind Police Officers Do Everything They Can to Make Sure the Kid Has a Way to Get to School

Skateboards, roller skates, tricycles, and bicycles are some of our main means of transportation before we get our driver's licenses. For most of us, they are probably the cost-effective, healthy transport options without having to get a driver's license. And imagine if our favorite bicycle breaks midway while we are cheerfully riding it to a friend's house, to school, or to get groceries. Imagine if we were a kid. Devastating. Unlike the broken helpless situation we just imagined, this Texas kid had local cops come to his rescue. The Broken Chain OrdealDaniel, a young teen, was pushing his broken bike as he walked along the sidewalk. His bicycle appeared to have had a broken chain situation when we has returning home from school. Two police officers of the Selma Police Department saw this young man in his unfortunate afternoon ordeal. Chief Padula and Cpl. Ludy stopped their police car and had a small chat with him. Impressed by this kind young kid's demeanor and politeness, they decided to help him fix the broken chain.RELATED: Waitress Brings Firefighters to Tears With Her Selfless Gesture – They Pay Back Her Kindness in an Incredible WayThey spent a solid time trying to detangle the chain and hinge it right. The officers also noticed that the bike "had seen better days," and was not in top condition. With quick temporary fixes, they saw Daniel ride it off to his house. The officers couldn't leave it at that. They were in awe of Daniel because he was polite, articulate, respectful, and kind throughout the encounter. The officers found him to be "a pleasure to chat with". Chain of EventsThe pleasant chat with Daniel revealed that he usually rides his bike everywhere, especially to commute to school. So they together decided to treat a kind polite sincere kid with something more than a temporarily fixed old used bike. The two officers, Chief Padula and Cpl. Ludy surprised Daniel with a brand-new bike. When the officers knocked on his door, he and his parents were confused. The officers begin the conversation by thanking the kind kid for the good chat they had that day. RELATED: Neighborhood Kids See a Boy Struggling to Ride a Bike – His Mom Catches Them Doing the UnbelievableThe cops slowly reveal that they had a surprise for him and that they replaced his bike. This good news made him smile wide, and the kid beamed with joy. They walk him to the car to unload the bike. Playfully, one of the officers asks Daniel, whether it would be okay if the bike was all pink. Daniel was so happy that he did not pay attention to this question. The officers then revealed the bike that was not pink at all. Even before they ask him whether he liked the bike, Daniel is seen climbing it and adjusting to it. Off he went with his new bike with tough wheels, and a firm grip, smiling all the way. The officers were elated to see the kid be this happy with the surprise, and to "spread joy to the citizens". It's all snowy outside. With the temperature changes, the holiday feeling has also set in all around us, in the stores, at schools, and in homes. People are unpacking their Christmas decor, purchasing gifts for their loved ones, wrapping them up with pretty colored paper, looking up recipes for family dinners, and many more. Diauris Reed, a 13-year-old even got into trouble pursuing this Christmas spirit for his family. The Missing Case & The Police ChaseSophia Reed, with her two kids, son Diauris and daughter Deneisha moved to Oklahoma City using up all their money. They even spent their Christmas money to settle in an apartment. With the little money they had, they knew they couldn't afford gifts for Christmas. "What little Christmas money we had...we pay the security deposit for here," Reed said. Her only wish for the holiday was to be together as a family under one roof. Little did she know that her son would go missing right before this holiday. 13-year-old Diauris Johnson, left home one morning and didn't return. Except for his siblings, his mom had no clue where he had been. It was very unlikely for the kids to behave in such a manner, and that worried their mom. She was concerned and panicked, so she called the local police to help find her missing son. A big group of police officers showed up at their house with presents wrapped in cute Christmas paper. They even managed to raise $800 for the family, to help them celebrate their cozy holiday. This act of kindness from their kids, spreading to the community through the police, overwhelmed Sophia. It also helped Diauris witness the welcoming nature of the police in the area. "Most of the time when I see the police it's like, bad stuff. Up here I guess it's changed, good," he said. Little Girl Wishes to See Her Best Friend for Christmas — Santa Claus Makes Her Wish Come True Thanks to a Special Letter

It's the most awaited holiday of the year and we all would love to spend it with friends and family. The upside of this holiday is the gifts, dinners, shopping, fun, themed events, togetherness, and so on. The downside though is the travel distance, and connectivity. If only it was that easy to erase those distances to be with our loved ones, we all would write many letters to Santa as Annalisse did. Making a Christmas WishSeven-year-old Annalisse Hocking picked out a pen and a piece of paper, determined to write a letter to Santa. She gathered her limited vocabulary for this annual holiday ritual of writing a letter to Santa. Unlike her previous years, when she wrote about toys and games, she had a unique request to make. Her letter read:"Dear Santa, for Christmas I would like it to be a surprise. Please tell Nyla that I miss her. I have not forgotten about her, and please tell her my address and everything she needs to know to mail me a letter also. Please tell me everything I need to know to mail a letter to her".The Hocking family moved from Dover to Farmington, and Annalisse made a best friend out of Nyla. But the two didn't know that they would be separated soon, as Nyla had to move out of Farmington a few months after. It wasn't easy for the parents to keep up with the play dates now that the distance grew between them. RELATED: Youngest NFL Player JuJu Smith Becomes Santa For Hundreds of Pittsburgh Kids"I really wanted to see Nyla, so I wrote down if he could make that happen, that's what I wanted," said Annalisse in an interview with Foster's Daily Democrat. She added that she misses the funny stories her friend Nyla tells her, and the time they spend in the playground. "I had just moved to that school, and she moved away. So, it was hard because we had just become friends and I moved there and she moved away," Annalisse continued talking about why she wished hard for this and wrote the letter. Was it Really Santa?Santa found Nyla on Facebook. Or was it his elves? Or was it someone else?Leslie Hocking, the 7-year-old's mother was the Santa who made her daughter's wish come true. She found the note and went straight to the internet to find her daughter's best friend. Leslie posted the whole letter on Facebook. She also shared it in communities that could find people who are familiar with the school her daughter goes to. She asked people in the community to help her find Nyla. Social media proved to be a boon when Leslie found Nyla's mother, Sarah Hodgon. The moms of the two kids connected and arranged for a surprise dinner for the girls. Nyla and Annalisse were " speechless" when they saw each other at the restaurant. "It was so cute," Sarah said. They shared the best hug and were all smiles throughout the dinner. "I just held back the tears trying to be like, 'This is a great joy.' I can't even describe it- you get choked up inside and it's all happy," said Sarah. She added that this was a special gift for Nyla too as it was hard for her to make friends at her new school online. The two girls have since been in constant contact with each other video chatting. Nyla's "personality has been brighter," adds her mother Sarah. Both Leslie and Sarah, the moms of the two girls are thankful to the community for making this happen. "I can't believe how many people stepped forward and were trying to help two little girls who were in school together for less than a year and grew a good bond," said Lesley Hocking. Santa is in all of us and is in the kindness of people. KEEP READING:Man Who Finds Christmas Wishlist Attached to a Balloon Proves Santa Claus DOES Exist
