Stranger Tests Woman by Asking Her for Money - Little Did She Know What He Was Planning

In a viral video exemplifying true generosity, an older woman pushes a cart down a street. Inside the cart sits her small dog. A man approaches her. We can’t see him in the video, though. The camera focuses on the woman in the blue-striped shirt, pushing her dog along and carrying a stick in her hand.“Hi,” the man says as he approaches her, “we’re out of petrol. Can you help us?” He asks her for a small amount of money. The woman hesitates, shakes her head and sighs. She’d clearly like to help, but she apologizes for having nothing to give, nothing at all. She seems to look around in desperation, truly wishing she could help the man. But as she repeats sadly, she has nothing to give.“I have nothing, nothing…not even a cent,” she replies.“How come you don’t have even a cent?” The man continues to ask her questions. Where does she live? The woman explains that she stays in a shack behind the post office. What’s the name of your pet? “Chickie,” she replies.A Test of Human InteractionIn such a situation, where someone on the street is asking for money, most people would just keep walking, not even bothering to give the person the time of day, much less money. This woman who was living in a shack took the time to make eye contact with the man, answer him honestly, and have a civil conversation. It was her own form of generosity. She wanted to help, but she just couldn’t. Like a neighbor, she explained her situation and even told the man the name of her dog. When he asked her a question, she didn’t keep walking. She stopped and talked to him.Stranger Gives Woman a GiftLittle did she know, the man begging for money was South African philanthropist and motivational speaker Bi Phakathi. Sometimes called the “Secret Santa” of South Africa, he takes great lengths to keep his identity a secret. Many of his videos have gone viral, and he has over 2 million followers on Instagram. But he always remains behind the camera. He prefers to keep the focus on the act of generosity and compassion, not on himself. He believes everyone should be able to live with dignity, and he films his interactions with the poor and the homeless in the hope that others will be inspired to follow in his footsteps. In this video, once the woman tells him the name of her dog, he hands her some money. She’s shocked and doesn’t want to take it at first; but as he explains, he was just testing her. He knew her story, and he was there to help.Unbelievable GenerosityThe woman is visibly touched and grateful. When the man gives her the money, she audibly exhales. Her relief and gratitude are tangible. Bi Phakathi doesn’t stop there. He continues to give her more and more money, much to her disbelief. He sticks more bills in the cart with Chickie. The woman shakes her head, thanking him over and over.Bi Phakathi saw a woman in need and recognized the generosity of her soul. As he continues to hand her money, the woman says that she’s going to buy food. Then, she says that she’s going to share the money with the others that live in shacks around her. She wants to make a meal for her community. She’s going to pay it forward.A True Gift to OthersBi Phakathi’s charitable work is itself inspired by the generosity of his own parents. He honors their spirit and goes above and beyond: covering medical expenses, buying homes for the homeless, and providing job training to help people get on their feet and be self-sufficient. He always remains behind the camera, focusing on the work he’s doing rather than on the man who is doing it. And his videos have touched the hearts of millions of viewers. After seeing how he helped this kind, unassuming woman, viewers were quick share what stood out to them:“In her condition, she was thoughtful of people like her, what an amazing human being.”“It’s always the people that don’t have that is willing to help others. Bless her for her good heart…You left a lump in my throat.”“If we only had more generous people like this, what a different world this place would be.”There are works of generosity and there are those of compassion. A connection was made that day through an act of kindness: in the gift of financial help, but also and especially in the gift of human connection and understanding.More from Goalcast:Stranger Hands Something to Homeless Man on Metro – It Ends Up Completely Changing His LifeFreezing Homeless Man Goes to a Closed McDonald’s – Manager Defies All Rules and Does This“Homeless” Man Insists on Paying for an Expensive Lunch at Restaurant – So the Server Tells Him a Lie

Homeless Man Insists on Paying for an Expensive Lunch at Restaurant - So the Server Tells Him a Lie

People go through all kinds of things in life, some that they talk about and some that they don’t. The truth is, we don’t always know what’s going on behind closed doors, or what kind of circumstances led to a person’s current position. What we do know is that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, no matter their background or situation. That’s why this story of a “homeless” man insisting on paying for his own meal at a fancy restaurant has reached so many people.A Lunchtime RequestOne day in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, a man who appeared homeless came up to the balcony of a high-end restaurant named Benvindo. In English, “benvindo” translates to “welcome.” The name seems on brand, because when this man showed them a $50 bill and asked the waiters for a meal, they sat him down.An average meal at this restaurant goes for about $100, but the servers insisted that this man’s meal was on the house. He declined and said he wanted to pay for it with his sweat, as per a local publication. The man chose the Executive Lunch, which came with a starter, a main course, and a dessert. He also ordered some wine. The server brought him a bottle, but he didn’t finish the drink and asked for a couple of sodas instead. He also skipped dessert. The whole time, the staff treated him just as they would any other client.A Kind GestureWhen the bill came, it totaled more than $120. However, the restaurant’s owners insisted to the server that this man should use his money for something else. When the server tried to comp the meal, however, the man once again insisted that he pay for his food. After some back-and-forth, the server charged the man $10. He lied and said it was a promo because initially, the man wouldn’t take the $40 change. Meanwhile, some patrons nearby snapped some photos of the man. Then, they shared the exchange on social media.“We just watched a great example of compassion and synergy,” the person wrote, as per the local publication. “The ease of this guy made me think about the many paths we choose in life trying to be happy… and many times, it’s in the simplest and most truthful and unexpected way that is closer and more accessible than we realize.”The post went viral and many online came to the conclusion that this man was homeless. They cited how he collects cans and cardboard to make money. However, his true identity remains unknown.“It was an act that we did not for publicity; we were not expecting anything like that,” the server, Felipe Fontes, added. “He was polite, he insisted on paying the bill.”A Universal ApproachOne reason this story touched so many people is that it exemplifies the importance of treating everyone with dignity and respect, no matter what preconceived notions we may have about them.Whether this man was homeless or not, it was apparent that this meal was a special occasion for him and something that he wanted to feel like he earned. So the servers and owners did everything they could to make him feel valued and respected. We don’t all have the same privileges, upbringings, or opportunities in life. But by remembering to treat everyone with kindness and like an equal, we add infinite value to all of our lives.More from Goalcast:Restaurant Receives One-Star Review Due to Homeless Man in Front – Instead of Making Him Leave, Owner Defends HimRestaurant Manager Catches Homeless Woman’s Happy Dance After Job Interview – And Hires HerTrembling Homeless Man Begs Restaurant Manager for Leftovers – His Response Teaches Everyone a Lesson

Homeless Family of 5 Lives in a Broken-Down Bus - Then a Stranger Makes an Offer That Sounds Like a Cruel Joke to Them

Back in 1897, an 8-year-old girl wrote a letter to the New York Sun asking "Is there a Santa Claus?" Her name was Virginia. The response, by lead editorial writer Francis P. Church, became the most republished editorial in the history of U.S. journalism. "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus," Church famously wrote. "He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias."Fast forward 125 years and In a cool twist of fate, it seems that a woman named Virginia and Santa Claus? Are one and the same. A Mom Meets a Struggling Homeless FamilyVirginia Finch and her daughters were delivering Thanksgiving meals to the homeless in Greeley, Colorado when they met a struggling family living in a broken-down converted school bus behind a gas station.Eric and Olivia, along with their 3 small children, ages 5, 14 months, and 1 month, had been traveling across the U.S. when they became stranded in Greeley, Colorado.Broke and homeless and with the snow and cold weather setting in, the family's situation was dire and getting worse. Virginia knew she had to do something. “There’s no way I’m going to leave a baby with no crib for a bed on Christmas,” she thought to herself. Then she got an idea. A wonderful, amazing, remarkable idea.A Home for the HolidaysThe Finches had recently renovated a second house and were planning to either sell it or rent it out. Instead, they offered it to the desperate family, rent and utility-free."We drove back down and asked them if they wanted to move into our other house," Virginia told Denver 7 News.“I just didn’t think it was real,” a shocked Olivia said. “I thought it was like a cruel joke, almost, ’cause who does that? Nobody does that.”But somebody did do it. Not only did Virginia and her family provide Eric and Olivia with a free, furnished house but they also spent a week gathering donations of food, clothing, and toys to give to the family. "It's helped restore my faith in humanity and hopefulness." Olivia via Denver 7 News(Ours too.) Not only did Virginia potentially save the family's lives but she saved their holiday too. The gift was nothing short of a Christmas miracle for the family. "We didn't think we were going to have a Christmas, at all. We would have been lucky if we'd had enough food or if we got jobs at that point," Olivia said. Virginia might not actually BE Santa Claus, but there's no doubt that she is an angel. While we can't all afford to gift someone a house, we can make an effort to help someone who is struggling. Even small gestures of kindness can add up to big differences in someone's world. As Olivia put it, "People just need somebody to care."And hope? Well, that may be the greatest gift of them all. Residents of a Small Town Trick UPS Driver - What He Found Overwhelmed Him to Tears

Everyone wants to feel seen and appreciated in life. Knowing and feeling your purpose can be essential to our overall well-being and our mental health, which is why it’s so important to show people that you appreciate them and care. One small town in Pennsylvania did exactly that one year when they saw just how hard their local UPS driver was working for them and how he went above and beyond to ensure they had the best experience possible. An Exemplary EmployeeDauphin, Pennsylvania, is the type of town you might picture in a Hallmark Christmas movie. There are no traffic lights, and everyone looks out for one another. As of 2021, the population was less than 800 people, making it a tight-knit community.“Blink and you’ll miss it,” resident Joe Calhoun told Today. “But there is something so special here. It’s a small town with a big heart.”UPS driver Chad Turns doesn’t live in Dauphin, but the town is part of his delivery route. Over the years, the driver has endeared himself to the residents with his thoughtfulness and kindness. He carries dog treats for the local pups, for example.“The whole town has had personal experience with Chad,” Adam Shickley told CNN about Turns. “He once thought a package was a gift, and there was a picture on the front. My kids were playing outside, so he waited until his shift was done and came back to make sure they didn’t see it.”“On Facebook, another friend mentioned there was a package that needed signing and they weren’t home,” Jenny Shickley added to Today. “Chad was nervous that it was important, so he went to their parents' house to get it signed for them.”Rough Times for DriversIn 2020, when the pandemic hit, and stay-at-home orders were in place, Turns was still out there making his deliveries. In fact, because so many people were ordering things to their homes, he was busier than ever. That didn’t stop his sunny disposition, but it did make his job a lot harder. The residents noticed and began commenting on how great Turns was doing on the town's Facebook page.“He’s been working 60-80 hour weeks for a year,” Jenny Shickley told Today. “He’s been working Christmas-style hours for 365 days.”Eventually, Shickley was inspired to do something to show Turns how much he meant to all of them. So she organized a “Thank You, Chad” event through social media and rallied everyone to contribute to a group gift.“The funny thing is I meant to set it up for $300, but it set to $500,” she shared. “It hit $500 within two days, and the total wound up being a little over $1,000.”An Epic SurpriseOrganizers worked with UPS dispatch to surprise Turns. One day, the company arranged for Turns' last stop to be an on-demand pickup at the municipal building. The driver thought he was heading out to pick up a box, but when he arrived, community members were standing there holding signs.“It was very overwhelming,” Turns told Today. “The idea that they even thought of me to do anything... to go above and beyond and do what they did was truly amazing to me.”Turns added that he always feels the town’s generosity and noted people often offer him water or cookies as he goes about his route. But this particular act of kindness was a true gift that made him tear up.“I cried,” he said, adding that his wife also teared up. “I always call her when I leave work, and she asks me how my day was. It was a tearjerker. It was very touching and humbling.”“Chad is a great UPSer and has been delivering to Dauphin residents for more than a decade,” UPS spokesperson Jackie Fajt told CNN in a statement. “Celebrations like this really highlight the bond our drivers have with their customer base. We appreciate that UPS drivers like Chad are being recognized for how they are moving our world forward.”Spreading KindnessSo often, we forget about the people in our lives who help make our daily routines easier. The people who make our coffee at the drive-through. Those who deliver our parcels or pick up our trash. The teachers who help to educate our children. This story reminds us that by taking time to thank people, even through small gestures, we can help to make them feel seen and appreciated. Whether that’s offering someone a glass of water, giving them a thank you card, or organizing something bigger, like this town did, every action matters. After all, acts of kindness can make the world a happier place for us all.More from Goalcast:Mom Notices UPS Driver Leave a Message on Her Door Cam – What He Said Changed both Their LivesUPS Driver Goes Viral for Taking Adorable Selfies With Dogs He Meets During Delivery RouteUPS Driver Trusts Instinct And Stops To Check On Resident – Ends Up Saving A Life

Couple Passes by Homeless Man Who Has Lived on the Streets for 3 Years - Decide to Give Him a Christmas Hell Never Forget

Floyd Carter spent three long years calling the streets of Washington, D.C. home. After falling on hard times, the veteran spent most of his days in front of the Whole Foods on P St., NW, and his nights wherever he could. “You’ve got nowhere to go. You’re sneaking on people’s porches, going into abandoned cars, or buildings [just] to lie down,” Carter told ABC7 News.Despite having a housing voucher — a government-issued voucher that assists very low-income families and people with disabilities in paying for safe and affordable private housing — Carter was unable to secure a roof over his head. That is until two D.C. lawyers showed up with the ultimate gift. How Two Strangers Stepped in to HelpFloyd was on his "last leg, about to give up," when two "angels in disguise" walked into his life and changed it forever. While most people would go out of their way to ignore him, Erik and Rachel Cox aren't like most people. Instead of walking past him pretending he didn't exist, they struck up a conversation and spent a few minutes getting to know him and his story. “He told us he had a housing voucher and waited for months and months, but was unable to get his foot in the door or respect when he tried to get an apartment,” the Coxes said. “We then looked at ourselves and thought, that’s not right, let’s see what we can do.”The duo got to work. The problem with the housing voucher is that participants are responsible for finding a suitable housing unit of their choice where the owner agrees to rent under the program. But unfortunately, when it comes to the homeless, the stigma is real. It's difficult to find landlords willing to take people off the streets. Without a fixed address, you don't have I.D. Without I.D., you can't get a job. It's a vicious circle. To make matters worse, the Coxes discovered that Carter had "become a ghost in a bureaucratic system." The only way he could get a place was to pony up the money for application fees and a security deposit.Money he didn't have. But luckily for him, the Coxes did. Exchanging Christmas Gifts for Christmas JoyRather than spend money on Christmas gifts for each other, the couple decided to play Santa Claus. They used $1300 towards an apartment for Carter.Just weeks after first meeting him, Erik and Rachel were helping their new friend move into his very own apartment. It was a day Carter never thought would come. "They seen something in me that nobody else seen."Floyd CarterNot only did they gift him a home, but they gave him something even more invaluable — hope. “I learned that there are some caring people in this world,” Carter said. “They made this the best Christmas I probably could ever have.”And to make it even greater, thanks to having an address and I.D., he was well on his way to getting a job. All thanks to the kindness of strangers.Spirit of GivingDuring a season often marked by material exchange, the Coxes exemplified the true spirit of giving — exchanging Christmas gifts for the joy of literally changing someone's life. Because of their generosity towards a complete stranger, they were able to take one man off the streets and put him on the road to a successful future. While not all of us can afford $1300, we can afford to rethink our own reactions when we see people struggling. A kind word, a smile, and an acknowledgment of our fellow human beings can go a long way. And just imagine the impact we could have if we were willing to give up even one of our Christmas gifts, in exchange for making someone else's life just a little bit brighter. Man Shows Up to a Pub to Play a Gig - Bumps Into a Famous Musician Who Helps Him Buy a Home

Gregor Hunter Coleman received the gift of a lifetime.Pursuing your dreams isn’t always easy, particularly for artists and musicians. Creating and inspiring others may be in your soul, but these types of gigs don’t always pay the bills. That’s why this story of rapper Post Malone helping out a struggling artist has touched so many people: it’s the ultimate story of an artist giving back.A Random MeetingEarlier this year in May, Post Malone was in Glasgow for a show stop on his Twelve Carat tour. He wandered into a pub, where he met a local artist named Gregor Hunter Coleman. The 30-year-old had been performing at the bar that night, and Malone was impressed. He asked if he could buy Coleman a drink. That’s when Malone learned that Coleman had stopped drinking so that he could save his money for a house. Once he had his own kitchen and a fridge, he’d stock it with beer. The artist had enjoyed the performance, and he wanted to do something, though, so he asked if Coleman would consider playing at his concert afterparty.“He started saying, how much will you charge? I said nothing, it's Post Malone, this is the chance of a lifetime,” Coleman later recalled to the BBC.A Sweet OfferColeman didn’t want to take money for the gig, but Malone wasn’t going to have him perform for free, either. So, he offered to pay part of the deposit on the home that Coleman had his eye on.“He offered to help me out with my deposit so I could have more time to focus on music, which I thought was wild,” he told STV. “I’d always heard stories that he was a really nice guy.”The aspiring musician didn’t reveal how much Malone ultimately gave him for his house, but he did say that they exchanged phone numbers. Coleman also posted about the encounter on Instagram.“I never thought whilst heading out the door with my guitar on Friday night for my gig at Wunderbar Glasgow that I’d meet Post Malone and have such a life-changing experience,” he wrote. “The hours spent with this gent chatting and jamming was life-changing in itself, not to mention what followed. This could be my time to hit the ground running.”Following the DreamColeman never expected a musician to show up at his gig that night, and if he did, he certainly didn’t think a well-known figure would like his music and offer him a gig. However, if Coleman hadn’t been pursuing his music while saving for his future, this encounter would have never happened. It’s an important reminder that if you feel like you’re meant to perform or create art, you should find a way to do exactly that. Yes, most of us have bills to pay and responsibilities in life, but carving out time for your passion is also important. Not all celebrities are known to be as nice and generous as Post Malone. But sometimes it’s the breaks we don’t see coming that impact us most of all. So keep one foot in front of the other and carry on. Because in life, you never truly know what might happen next.More from Goalcast:Post Malone Trades Shoes With a Fan at His Concert in Heartwarming Gesture That’s Gone ViralYoung Boy Walks Up to Keanu Reeves and Makes One Simple Request – His Response Makes Headlines5 Incredible Times The Rock Inspired Us to Become the Best Versions of Ourselves

Man Finds Out His Sister Has a Five Figure Student Loan Debt - Has a Secret Plan For 2 Years and Uncovers It on Christmas Morning

In the realm of college athletics, Anthony Leal, the dynamic point guard for the Indiana Hoosiers, isn't just making headlines for his skills on the court. His recent heartwarming gesture is stealing the spotlight, showing us that sometimes, the greatest victories are scored off the basketball court. How One Young Man Brought His Elder Sister to TearsAnthony, a business major at Indiana University, didn't hesitate when he learned about his sister Lauren's daunting student loans. Determined to alleviate the financial burden she was shouldering, he decided to leverage the newfound opportunity provided by the NCAA.In 2021, the NCAA opened the door for college athletes to earn endorsement money. Anthony, known for his intelligence as well as his athleticism, saw this as a chance to make a significant impact off the court. Rather than splurging on himself, he made a selfless decision —t o save every bit of his endorsement money for two years to surprise Lauren with the ultimate Christmas gift.On Christmas day, Anthony unfolded his plan to Lauren, revealing his intention to pay off her five-figure student debt. He shared the emotional moment on Twitter, capturing the raw reactions of Lauren, their mother, and grandmother — all moved to tears by this unexpected act of kindness. The emotional surprise wasn't entirely a secret. Anthony had confided in his father about his plan back in 2021. "I’m on scholarships so I don’t necessarily need the money, so I decided to try to use that to help my sister," Anthony explained. For him, the joy of lightening his sister's load far outweighed any personal gain. The Ultimate Surprise on Christmas MorningLauren, who had been working two jobs to tackle her student loans, was utterly surprised when her brother presented this gift of freedom. Having planned to assess her debt after her birthday, graduation, and Christmas — all crammed into a single month — she hadn't yet faced the staggering reality of her financial situation. Anthony, however, had already shouldered that burden for her.Expressing her gratitude, Lauren described the overwhelming feeling of freedom: "I can go full steam ahead in my future and what I want to accomplish, what I want to do, without having that just weighing me down and holding me back. So it’s just, it’s surreal. It’s incredible." Anthony, ever humble, doesn't expect anything in return from Lauren. He believes in the power of paying it forward, confident that his sister will carry this spirit of generosity into her own journey. For the Leal family, this Christmas wasn't just about festive decorations and exchanging gifts; it was about the profound love and sacrifice that binds them. As Anthony succinctly put it, "It was a good little way to finish off Christmas morning. I was happy to put a smile on their faces."In a world often dominated by competition, Anthony Leal reminds us that true champions extend their victories far beyond the scoreboard, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those they love.More from Goalcast:Southern Church Notice That Kids in Their Community Are Going Hungry at School — So They Pay Off Lunch Debt for the Whole CommunityTeen Works Hard to Pay For Her Dream College – Gives Her Entire Savings to Her Mom Instead After Finding Out She’s in DebtStruggling Waitress Works to Pay Off Debt – Millionaire Customer Gives Her $20K and Pays Her Tuition Instead
