89-Year-Old Woman Is Thrown Out of Her Own Home - What Her Neighbor Does Next Leaves Her Speechless

When one elderly woman was evicted from the house she had lived in for decades, a neighbor stepped in.

When 89-year-old Angie Tyma was evicted from the house she had lived in for decades, one neighbor in particular rushed in to help.

The house went into foreclosure and Tyma was evicted after the person she had sold the house to years earlier, who lives in Europe, stopped paying the mortgage.

Tyma, whose husband died nearly 20 years ago, got a warning but didn't really think she would be kicked out. "They threw me out. I couldn't believe it," she told Today.

When her neighbors saw Tyma’s belongings being removed from the house, they wanted to help. And then one neighbor, Danielle Calder, who lives a few houses down, bought the house.

Calder contacted the company that had purchased the house at an auction. She bought the house for $167,500 and now she’s Tyma’s landlord.

After staying at a Days Inn hotel for three weeks, Tyma moved back into her home on her 89th birthday.

How One Woman Proved the Importance of Being a Good Neighbor

"Quite honestly, I didn't need another house. But I needed her. I couldn't see her living in a motel room... she has been here so long. Everyone looks out for her," Danielle Calder told Today.

Her homecoming was the best birthday gift Tyma could have received. "Usually one of my neighbors bakes me a cake every year, but this time, when I got out of the car, and saw all these people, and the media... I was in a state of shock. I was speechless. I couldn't even talk," Tyma said.

Calder says everyone knows Tyma and she's "the fabric of the neighborhood." So she just wanted to help. "It was the right thing to do. We’re family — the whole neighborhood."

These neighbors really know how to look out for one another.
