Melissa Mccarthy's Morning Routine Involves Waking up at 4:30 a.m. for This Surprising Reason

Waking up early may not be much fun, but many super successful people are big fans of getting a fresh start early in the day.

Melissa-McCarthy

One example is Melissa McCarthy, who revealed in a recent interview with The New York Times Magazine, that she likes to wake up at 4:30 a.m. every morning.

But she has an interesting take on the early wakeup. She’s not doing an early morning workout or getting started on work, she’s basically just getting into a zone to start the day in a positive way by enjoying coffee and watching her favorite reruns!

Self-care comes in many forms

"I treat myself right," says McCarthy, who prefers old episodes of "Knight Rider" or "The Incredible Hulk" starring Lou Ferrigno. The Hulk is "great," she adds. "The music. There's. So. Much. Score."

McCarthy says this morning TV binge helps her get in the zone before getting started with her day. After she watches TV, she’ll read the newspaper and also read something that shows her the bigger picture: National Geographic!

"Let's talk about polar bears and the toucan because it's so random and someone is taking these beautiful pictures. That's what the world is. It's not borders. Of course, it's all that, too, but, like, let's also remember how amazing the whole planet is."

McCarthy was not an overnight success, in fact she struggled for a long time before she became the third highest-paid actress in Hollywood -- so clearly she knows what works for her!
