Robert Frost (March 26, 1874 - January 29, 1963) is one of the most influential and famous American poets of all time. His work remains timeless, even today.

Frost published his first poem in his high school magazine and sold his first one in 1894 (My Butterfly: An Elegy) for $15. Despite being popular for his rural life poetry, Frost had to work all kinds of odd jobs in order to support his family.


Robert Frost’s personal life was filled with grief and loss. His father passed away when he was 11 years old, and Frost outlived four of his own six children.

In 1921, Frost accepted

a summer teaching position at the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury

College, where he taught for the next 42 years and was credited for

encouraging and influencing upon the school’s development and writing programs.

The winner of no less than four Pulitzer Prizes was much admired for his depictions of New England, his great expertise on American colloquial speech, and his realistic verse portraying ordinary people in everyday situations.
