Robin Sharma: Suffering Taught Me Strength

Robin Sharma - Become a Hero

Robin Sharma talks about how strength is formed through adversity, and speaks from the heart about how he learned and grew powerful through his pain and suffering.

Transcript:

"I've had times in my life where I've been in tremendous suffering and pain because life has hurt me. Society teaches us, Joel, rush out of those times, but my pain has given me true power. True power, not fake power. My suffering has taught me strength. My wounds have delivered wisdom. The person you become when you come out of the storm is not the person you were when you went into the storm. That's the purpose of the storm. But most of us are not taught the mindsets, the heart-seats, the health-sets. What about the soul-set? That's what I don't hear so much out in the world anymore. What makes greatness is not positive thinking, and that's where I think that's where the myths of our industry are.

"I don't really care If I fit into the world, in a world where most people are hungry to fit in, because you understand that true success is living your life on your own terms. Instinct is so much more powerful than intellect. The best decisions I've made in my life when it comes to love as well as business were when I did the crazy thing, but I followed my instinct. The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

"The world needs more heroes right now. Don't wait for them. Become one of them."
