5 Life Changing Tricks to Go to Bed Early

It’s 10 am and you just woke up. You had a light breakfast, you took a quick shower, and you are now ready to start your day. But, you feel like already half your day has gone. You know about the benefits of waking up early, so you are ready to give it a shot. You know it, to wake up earlier in the morning, you need to go to bed earlier at night. Naturally, most of the time, it’s easier said than done. So, here are five simple tricks to help you go to bed early and get to sleep.

5 Life-Changing Tricks to Go to Bed Early

Shut Down the Electronics Earlier

Using electronics late at night keeps the brain working. Light, in general, can suppress production of melatonin, a hormone that helps control the sleep and wake cycle of your body. Moreover, if you have a habit of watching TV shows or playing video games before going to sleep, your body might be producing cortisol, a stress hormone. So, the best thing you can do is shut down electronics earlier. Avoid using them within an hour of bedtime to give your mind and body the much needed electronic rest they need.

Write in a Diary

It might seem like something teenagers would do, but a diary can help you get to bed earlier, as long as you don’t do it on your computer. There’s nothing worse than tossing and turning because of worries, fears or stresses. Writing them down means that you can forget about them temporarily. In some cases, getting them written down will give you a chance to face them.

Stop Bringing Work Home

When you bring your work home, you will be tempted to do it. That pushes your bedtime. It’s time to leave it all at the office and get on with it the next day. It really can wait. And by the way, remember your health must always come first, anything else is less important.

Avoid the Hot Bath

You may hear that a hot bath can help you relax. While it can, it also raises your body temperature that in turn makes it harder to fall asleep. If you want a relaxing bath, keep the water cooler and do it at least an hour before going to bed. It'll give you the benefits, while not affecting your sleep.

Get Up at the Same Time

The best trick to go to bed early is to get up at the same time each morning. It doesn’t matter how tired you are, at first. Eventually, your body will fall into a pattern. You’ll soon find that the earlier bedtime is necessary.

It’s time to look after your health. Getting enough sleep is the best way to do that, and it should mean going to bed earlier. So, if you’ve been watching TV shows on your tablet while dipping yourself in a hot bath, just before going to bed, you should stop tonight! Follow the above tips and tell us how they worked for you!
