Mom Leaves Kids After Husband's Death - So Her 10-Year-Old Son Takes Charge

A video of the 10-year-old boy making rolls has gone viral, capturing the hearts of millions.

While other kids his age are riding bikes, playing video games, and hanging out with friends, Jaspreet Singh is bearing the weight of the world on his small shoulders.

At just 10 years old, Jaspreet's life literally changed overnight.

And now? The little boy is inspiring millions with his courage and strength and teaching us all a valuable lesson in the power of perseverance and resilience.

Video of Young Delhi Boy Preparing Rolls Goes Viral

Tragically, Jaspreet lost his father earlier this year to tuberculosis. After his death, Jaspreet's mother went home to Punjab, leaving him and his older sister, 14, in the care of their aunt.

She never returned.

Desperate to support himself and his sister, Jaspreet stepped into his father's shoes, taking on the role of the family breadwinner, despite only being 10 years old.

By day, he's a student. By night, he works his father's food cart on the streets of Delhi.

While working one evening, food vlogger Sarabjeet Singh (aka Mr. Singh Foodhunter) happened to come across his stall. Intrigued by the little boy, Singh stopped to chat. He recorded their interaction and shared it on Instagram.

The heartwrenching video has since gone insanely viral, racking up 10 million views and over 30,000 comments. It's also made its way over to X (formerly Twitter).

As Jaspreet busily makes a chicken egg roll, the vlogger asks who taught him how to cook. He tells him it was his papa. When he asks him where his father is, Jaspreet, without letting his smile slip, reveals that his father died. He also tells him about his mother and his sister.

When Singh asks him what keeps him going, Jaspreet responds:

"I am the son of Guru Gobind Singh ji. I will fight as long as I have the strength."

But now, thanks to the power of social media, he no longer has to fight alone.

Love and Support Comes Pouring In

Since the video went viral, business is booming.

Additionally, numerous individuals and organizations have come forward to offer assistance to Jaspreet and his sister.

Some have offered to "jazz up his cart" while others have pledged to provide financial aid and educational support to ensure Jaspreet's future remains bright despite the challenges he faces today.

Including billionaire business tycoon, Anand Mahindra, who put a call out on X to find Jaspreet and offered to fund his education.

"Courage, thy name is Jaspreet. But his education shouldn’t suffer. I believe he’s in Tilak Nagar, Delhi. If anyone has access to his contact number please do share it. The Mahindra Foundation team will explore how we can support his education,” he wrote in his post on X.

According to Jaspreet's 19-year-old cousin Gurmukh, The Mahindra Foundation has already reached out to the family.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor also stepped forward and pledged his help in an Instagram story, writing:

"With a smile on his face, he’s facing life ahead and all that will come with it. I salute this 10-year-old for having the courage to stand up on his own two feet and take over his father’s work within 10 days of him passing away."

As for how Jaspreet feels about all the attention? He's taking it like the champ he is.

"I am happy. I am still trying to figure out what is happening," Jaspreet told PTI. "There is love and support pouring in from every corner for me. Everyone in my school, my teachers and friends, also want to come to my cart now. I hope it stays like this."

A True Warrior

Jaspreet's story serves as a sobering reminder of the harsh realities faced by many families in Delhi and beyond. Economic instability, coupled with unforeseen tragedies, often pushes children into adulthood long before they are ready.

However, it also underscores the power of human resilience and our ability to overcome overwhelming obstacles at any age. Despite only being 10 Jaspreet has shown incredible fortitude in the face of adversity. He is a real-life superhero.

As one commenter so aptly put it, “Bro's dad raised a true warrior.” Indeed.

Racism Quotes

Racism is considered the marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges another race. The term is applied in many areas of a society that perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race or strengthen racial inequalities in education, health care, income, and civil rights.

Ever since the 20th century, the concept of biological race is considered a cultural invention that has no scientific basis. The progress over the past half-century has been impressive, but the nation still has a long way to go to reach true racial equality.

A community is so much more than people sharing a space. It's a living, breathing network of connections and shared experiences. While it's usually defined as “a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common,” true community runs much deeper than that.
