Ryan Gosling had Kenergy long before his role was cemented in Barbie.
If you haven't heard about the Barbie movie starring blonde bombshells Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling–you may be an AI robot because that is literally impossible.
Whether or not you're one of the xx million people to see Barbie during its opening weekend does not matter, because even if you don't know what's going with Barbie, you still kinda do.
Any human being with internet access is learning about Barbie and we'll never be able to un-see what we've seen.
Though, I'll admit, I am hoping whoever ran the $150 million marketing campaign, gets into politics next. The white house could use a dash of pink, don't you think?
Margot Robbie's Barbie Dream Wardrobe aside, there was one interview that stood out above the rest.
In one of the promo interviews Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling did for Barbie, Robbie reveals the moment she knew her co-star Ryan Gosling had the perfect Kenergy.

In 2011, Ryan Gosling went viral–and no, it wasn't for taking his shirt off (this time).
While returning home from the gym, Gosling saw two strangers getting physical on the mean streets of New York City and decided to get involved.
Our very own real-life Ken Doll, took justice into his own (sexy, strong) hands and broke up the fight between the two pedestrians in the altercation.
Little did Ryan Gosling know, his heroic stunt would come back in the form of good karma over a decade later!

Robbie revealed that when she and director Greta Gerwig talked about casting Ken, Robbie instantly remembered the video of Gosling coming rescue from all those years ago.

Why Ryan Gosling Regretted Breaking Up the Street Fight
After his heroic deeds were splashed on every news station on repeat, The Notebook star admitted he felt "embarrassed" about the whole thing.
Gosling, who is an advocate against bullying after being bullied in high school, didn't realize why the fight broke out when he stepped in.
It turns out, the stranger who launched the attack was a local painter trying to restrain a thief who had ran away with one of his works.
"I'm embarrassed. I think the guy really was stealing that other guys painting, so I should have just kept my nose out of it. It was sad... I said to the guy, "Why are you doing this?" He said, "Well he tried to steal my painting." I said, "How do you know?" He said, "Well he comes here everyday and looks at my paintings." Which means, the guy was a fan. And so he wanted the painting so bad he had to steal it because he couldn't afford it. So he finally steals the painting, and he's getting his ass kicked by his hero. And then the guy from The Notebook shows up and makes it weirder. The whole thing... nobody wins. Nobody won. You know, I had just come from the gymnasium and I was all stretched out and feeling... feeling warmed up. So I'm embarrassed."

When Gosling learned this, he took a step back from the situation, and even though he feels guilty for stepping in, his act gave time for the proper authorities to get involved and resolve the situation accordingly.
It's not always easy to step up when you see something wrong. It can be difficult to get involved in a situation where you don't know all the details. But in Gosling's case, he stepped in calmly and diffused a tough situation.
Obviously, Robbie had the right instincts! Gosling is a talented actor with a huge heart and when it comes to being the good guy...what more could you need in or out of Barbieland?

Who Else Was Considered For Ken in the Barbie Movie?
Even though now, it's clear Gosling was the perfect Ken (he's gone extremely method for the role), he had a few naysayers before the film's release.
When the first behind-the-scenes photos were leaked from the Barbie movie, age-ist fans of the famous Mattel Franchise, weren't sure Ryan Gosling was the Ken for the job.
In fact, Gosling had some other A-List talent competing for the coveted role.
In a conversation with Vanity Fair, Barbie casting director Allison Jones revealed, Schitts Creek's Dan Levy, The Politician's Ben Platt, and even Shang-Chi's Simu Liu were considered for the role of Kens.
Jonathan Groff was also slated to play Allan–but Michael Cera thankfully, nailed it.
While Simu Liu didn't score the role of Ken...he did score the role Ken!?
You can never have too much Kenergy in Barbieland!
But Gosling revealed he had to find the Kenergy within himself, only to discover it had been there all along.
I only knew Ken from afar," he said. "I didn't know Ken from within and if I'm being really honest, I doubted my Kenergy. I didn't see it, but Margot and Greta, they conjured this out of me somehow."

So, Why Is the Barbie Movie Rated PG-13?
If you're a parent, take your kids at your own discretion but I'd trust the ratings.
Barbie may not be the best movie for the little kids playing with them. If nothing else, lots of the jokes are for a more mature audience, and your little ones may not find Barbie fun.
It definitely feels more like a movie for teenagers and adults but every parent has their own style, and thats ok!
You catch catch Barbie playing in theatre near you from July 19th-August 18th, 2023...that is, if you can manage to snag a seat!
