Mental illnesses that are characterized by mood disorders, like bipolar disorder, are lifelong conditions. But the good news is that they can be treated with medications and psychological counselling. Inside Kanye West’s Battle With Bipolar DisorderWest's battle with bipolar disorder has not been a private one. Although he was diagnosed with the mental illness in 2017, the early tell-tale symptoms, like irregular behavior were always there. Then there was his failed Presidential campaign where he broke down at a rally in South Carolina and announced questionable family discussions of his daughter North West. There's scientific evidence that mania can occur when levels of noradrenaline are higher than the rest, and depression can occur when there's not enough levels of noradrenaline. How is Kanye Treating His Bipolar Disorder?Kanye West's bipolar diagnosis came in 2017, and since then has spoken openly about his experiences with manic episodes, like paranoia. West has also admitted that he learned how not to be on medication. In Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, West says that his bipolar medication caused him to gain weight and caused suicidal thoughts. Ex-wife Kim Kardashian also commented on West's decision not to take medication. Kardashian says, "For him, being on medication is not really an option, because it just changes who he is." She continued, "Traveling a lot does set it off, so he doesn't travel as much as he used to. In light of recent press, it may not come as a surprise that Kanye West is working through some personal issues.And famous self-help coach Tony Robbins has been a powerful motivator for the rapper, helping him work on his self-confidence to improve his life, according to The New York Times.West, who has been vocal about his mental health struggles, said Robbins visited his home in 2017 to provide guidance, and offered some unexpected advice: To scream.“I was so self-conscious about the nanny and the housekeeper that I didn’t want them to hear me screaming in the living room,” West says in the recent interview with New York Times reporter Jon Caramanica.“I think that that’s such a metaphor of something for the existence of so-called well-off people that they’re not really well-off — they won’t even scream in their own house.”At the time of the chat, West was in a dark place.“He could look at me and you know, I don’t know why he mentioned suicide, but he could tell that I was very low," he said."I was really medicated, shoulders slumped down, and my confidence was gone, which is a lot of the root of my superpower, because if you truly have self-confidence, no one can say anything to you.”After looking at him in the eyes, Robbins instructed West to stand up, get into a warrior yoga pose and scream.
