Boy Sings Solo at His Parents' Vow Renewal Ceremony And Brings Viewers Across the World to Tears

Nervous at first, the 12-year-old finds his groove and delivers a powerful message of love.

Kemorene Mills-Armstrong and her husband Kirkland Armstrong have three sons. When they decided to renew their wedding vows on a sunny day in March, it was only natural that the boys be part of the ceremony. The couple also included their closest friends and family members.

The beautiful ceremony in Port St. Lucie, Florida, was a private affair—at least, in the moment. The family had no idea that part of the recorded ceremony would go viral after the videographer shared it to TikTok.

Over 4 million views and 1.3 million likes later, it is indeed, as one TikTok user said, “the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Aiden and His Incredible Song Choice

In the three-minute video, 12-year-old Aiden, dressed in a black tuxedo with a white rose pinned to the front, takes the microphone. His voice starts off low, but those in attendance recognize the moving song right away. It’s Calum Scott’s “You Are the Reason”.

“I chose the song because I find it really sentimental and it was very sweet,” Aiden told ABC News. “I love my parents, so that’s why I decided to choose that song to sing at the wedding.”

Aiden’s love for his parents is apparent in the video where, after getting just a few of the lyrics out, his voice wavers and he wipes a few tears from his cheek. His loved ones in the audience encourage him, and by the time he gets to the chorus, he’s belting it out with such love and emotion that he takes everyone’s breath away.

Including Danielle Tufano, the videographer, who posted her recording of the touching moment. Aiden’s mother also posted the video to her own TikTok page, but it wasn’t until later that she discovered that her videographer’s post had gone viral.

“I honestly had no idea that would have happened at all,” Mills-Armstrong said. But I’ve been reading the comments online, and I’m like, I just cannot believe they’re so positive.” She’s happy and proud of her son. Besides the obvious sentimental value, the twelve-year-old also has a beautiful voice.

This Could Be the Start of Something Great

The comments commend the boy for many things: his voice, his bravery in singing in front of all those people, and his love for his parents. Calum Scott himself weighed in: “This is just beautiful!! True emotion. You killed it buddy!” Aiden’s mother thanked the singer for his comment and said that her son is a real fan of his. In fact, one of Aiden’s dreams is to meet a professional singer.

Others congratulated Aiden’s parents. “Proof that his parents are raising a sensitive and strong young man! Well done mom & dad! He’s so incredible,” wrote one TikTok user. In pictures from the ceremony, it is clear how much this family loves and supports each other.

Many viewers also admitted that they were crying while watching the video and would love to watch Aiden sing again. Aiden said he’s always loved singing and is taking lessons, so perhaps there are more videos like this one to come.

“It’s a very special time for all of us,” the boy’s mother said. “Even at his school, all his friends, they know, the principal knows, everyone knows right now. So it’s a really special time.” Aiden can’t help but feel the love.

An Emotional Moment for Everyone

Aiden said that, at first, he was nervous at the prospect of singing in front of all those people. “But I was very excited and happy at the same time to be there at the wedding, to sing for my parents,” he continued. He also knew immediately what song he wanted to sing.

The lyrics to Calum Scott’s song “You Are the Reason” go, in part, like this: I’d climb every mountain, and swim every ocean, just to be with you and fix what I’ve broken. ‘Cause I need you to see that you are the reason.

“When he started, I was very emotional,” Mills-Armstrong recalled. “From the beginning, it was very emotional and then you heard all the guests in the background. They were crying, so I got even more teary-eyed, so I had to be looking up, because all of the tears would be flooding down.”

It was a special moment for the family that was destined to become a memorable moment for people across the world. The video has been shared nearly 30,000 times. Aiden’s mom posted it to her TikTok page to be able to go back to that moment, and it’s not something that they’ll soon forget. Aiden’s song, sung from the heart, was a true gift, especially to his parents, but also to the world.
